A Colour of Honour Rises from Punjab: AAP MP Dr Ashok Mittal Appeals to Celebrate Holi in the Name of Martyrs
Chandigarh, March 2026: Amid the vibrant colours of Holi this year, a voice of gratitude and patriotism is also resonating across the country. Aam Aadmi Party Rajya Sabha MP Dr Ashok Mittal has appealed to people to celebrate Holi with a special resolve—one that touches the heart of every Indian.
Dr Mittal said that every festival we celebrate in free India, every joy we share, and every colour that fills our lives is possible because of the brave soldiers who sacrificed everything to protect the nation. Their martyrdom, he said, is the true foundation of our freedom.
He urged citizens that while celebrating the festival of colours this Holi, they should throw a handful of red gulal into the sky—symbolically and respectfully—in the name of the martyrs whose sacrifices allow us to live and celebrate in peace and security.
Dr Mittal described this not merely as an emotional appeal but as a nationwide message rooted in public sentiment. “Colours are not only of joy, but also of responsibility. If every home, every city, and every street adopts this small resolve, it can become not just a tribute, but a people’s movement,” he said.
Making a special appeal to the people of Punjab, Dr Mittal said this is the land that has given countless brave sons to the nation. The soil of Punjab is deeply imbued with traditions of courage and sacrifice. Therefore, he said, one colour of Holi this year must be dedicated to the martyrs who stood guard at the borders, protected the country, and secured a safe future for all.
Referring to the ideology of the Aam Aadmi Party, he said the party has always placed national interest, honesty, and public service above everything else. Honouring martyrs, he added, should not be limited to words alone, but should be reflected through genuine emotion and collective resolve. This, he said, is the kind of politics that unites people, strengthens society, and takes the nation forward.
Appealing to people to join the #EkMutthiGulaal campaign, Dr Mittal said it is not just a hashtag, but an emotion—for the country and with the country, always. Extending Holi greetings, he added that this year, along with colours, the spirit of patriotism should also colour people’s hearts.
Salutations to the martyrs, respect to the nation, and a message of love, dignity, and unity for every Indian—this, he said, is the true meaning of Holi. Jai Hind.
