Rajasthan CM Reviews Revenue Collection, Calls for Action Plan

Jaipur, March 2026 : Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma chaired a meeting on revenue collection and emphasized that a strong revenue system plays a crucial role in accelerating development works and ensuring that welfare schemes reach the last person in the state. He said the state government is continuously working to strengthen revenue collection while developing a transparent and simple tax system.

The Chief Minister noted that the government’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption, regular auctions of mining blocks, and transparent taxation practices have contributed to higher revenue collection. As a result, the state has recorded 7.10 percent higher revenue earnings during the same period this year compared to last year.

Addressing officials at the meeting held at the Chief Minister’s Office on Tuesday, Sharma directed departments to prepare a comprehensive action plan to increase revenue income. He also instructed the formation of a committee to monitor the achievement of revenue targets, which will regularly review the progress of each department.

Strengthen Monitoring to Prevent Tax Evasion

The Chief Minister said that GST reforms have provided relief to the public and that the state is among the leading regions in the country in the use of data analytics in this sector, benefiting taxpayers as well. He instructed officials to develop a robust monitoring system to prevent tax evasion and ensure transparency in taxation.

He also stressed the effective use of the Integrated Tax Management System, which provides multiple tax-related services on a single platform. Officials informed that the system has made tax compliance easier for taxpayers. The state has recorded nearly an 8 percent increase in GST collection compared to the previous year.

Higher Revenue from Transport Department

Sharma said that due to the state government’s efforts, the Transport Department has recorded 9.51 percent higher revenue this year compared to last year. Revenue from green tax has also increased. He directed officials to take strict action against overloaded vehicles and ensure proper implementation of the vehicle scrapping policy.

Strict Action Against Illegal Mining

During the meeting, officials informed that reforms in DLC rates by the Registration and Stamps Department have led to a 16.34 percent increase in stamp duty revenue during the same period compared to last year. Revenue from the auction of mining leases has also increased by about 12 percent compared to the previous financial year.

The Chief Minister directed officials to take strict measures to completely curb illegal mining and ensure firm action against those involved. He also instructed the Registration and Stamps Department to simplify the property registration process to provide greater relief to the public.

Sharma further directed officials to take effective steps to curb the illegal sale of liquor. Excise Department officials informed that policy reforms in the excise sector have resulted in around 7.52 percent higher revenue from excise compared to the previous financial year.

Chief Secretary V. Srinivas and senior officials from the concerned departments were present at the meeting.
