Daughters Empowered through Saraswati Cycle Scheme and Beti Bachao–Beti Padhao

Government schemes becoming a strong support in promoting girls’ education

Raipur, March 2026 : The positive impact of various schemes run by the Chhattisgarh Government to encourage girls’ education is now clearly visible at the grassroots level. Due to the government’s far-sighted policies, public awareness campaigns, and continuous monitoring, the percentage of girls receiving education in the district has been steadily increasing.

Earlier, in rural areas, the education of girls was often limited to primary classes. However, now daughters are pursuing higher education and bringing pride to their families and districts.

Reduction in School Dropouts through the Saraswati Cycle Scheme

In rural areas, the distance to schools has long been a major challenge for girls’ education. Keeping this issue in mind, under the Saraswati Cycle Scheme, girls enrolling in high school are provided free bicycles. This initiative has increased the regular attendance of girls and also reduced the dropout rate.

Kumari Poonam Gupta, a student of Government High School, Kothli, says that after receiving the bicycle she no longer has to walk long distances. This helps her reach school on time and gives her more time to focus on her studies.

Increased Awareness through the Beti Bachao–Beti Padhao Campaign

The Beti Bachao–Beti Padhao campaign has helped develop a positive mindset in society towards girls’ education. Parents are now giving greater priority to the education of their daughters.

Eliminating Gender Discrimination and Expanding Facilities

Through awareness programmes, rallies and special camps organised at the village level, issues such as child marriage, gender discrimination and school dropouts are also being addressed. At the same time, girls from economically weaker families are being provided scholarships, stipends, free textbooks and other educational facilities. The midday meal and nutrition programmes have also led to noticeable improvements in the health of girls.

Digital Education Providing a New Direction

To promote digital education in schools, smart classrooms and online learning materials are being introduced. This is helping girls become technologically skilled and better prepared for competitive examinations.

Continuous Monitoring Ensuring Effective Implementation

The district administration regularly conducts school inspections, teachers’ meetings and parent–teacher meetings to ensure active participation. Officials are continuously reviewing the implementation of these schemes so that the benefits reach eligible girls in a timely manner.

It is noteworthy that due to the government’s sustained efforts, daughters today are confidently moving forward to achieve their dreams and are creating a new identity for themselves in society.
