From Metro Expansion to Unauthorized Colonies, Development Projects Gain Momentum in Dwarka

New Delhi, May 2026 : Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta on Sunday launched various development projects worth approximately Rs 100 crore in the Dwarka Assembly constituency. During the programme organised on the occasion, several important development works related to the area were initiated with the objective of providing better basic facilities to citizens and giving a modern shape to the regional infrastructure.

Member of Parliament Smt. Kamaljeet Sehrawat, MLA Shri Pradyumn Rajput, several public representatives of the area, officials and distinguished citizens were present on the occasion. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that under the guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Delhi Government is continuously working with the vision of ‘Viksit Delhi’. She said that the government’s goal is not limited only to large schemes, but to effectively deliver basic facilities to every colony, every locality, every section and every citizen. She said that for the first time in Delhi, budget has been provided on such a large scale for development works in every Assembly constituency. She informed that development works worth around Rs 100 crore have been launched in the Dwarka Assembly constituency, while additional special budget has also been allocated for various projects in the area.

The Chief Minister informed that the Dwarka area will benefit from a new metro project worth Rs 6,200 crore, under which new corridors are being developed under Phase-5. She said that during previous governments, metro projects had come to a halt because the Delhi Government was unable to provide even its share on time, whereas our government has released Rs 10,000 crore for metro expansion and accelerated development works. The Chief Minister said that after the formation of the double-engine government, rapid work has also been carried out towards resolving issues related to unauthorized colonies. She said that long-pending issues related to registry and regularisation have been resolved so that people can get legal rights over their homes.

The Chief Minister said that Delhi’s condition had become extremely poor in previous years. Many areas lacked basic facilities such as drinking water, sewer lines, roads and drainage. The present government has worked on a war footing within one year to resolve these issues. She said that pipelines are being laid where there were no water pipelines. Sewer networks are being developed where there were no sewer lines, and rapid construction work is being carried out where there were no roads and drains. She said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Central Government and Delhi Government are jointly working for the development of the capital. Wide-ranging improvements are being made in several areas, including regularisation of unauthorized colonies, permanent houses for slum dwellers, and improvement of hospitals and schools.

Major Development Works Launched

The projects launched in the Dwarka Assembly constituency mainly include repair and construction of roads in various areas, renovation and modernisation of chaupals, extensive works to strengthen the drainage system, beautification and green development of parks, laying of new sewer pipelines, transformer upgradation in various colonies, and replacement of old electricity cables.
