CBI Serves Notice to K. Kavitha Over Delhi Excise Policy Case Hearing
Hyderabad, March 2026 : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday served a notice to K. Kavitha, leader of Telangana Jagruthi, regarding the hearing of the Delhi excise policy case scheduled in the Delhi High Court.
A team of CBI officials personally delivered the notice to Kavitha at around 12:30 pm, informing her about the agency’s petition that will be heard by the High Court on March 16. The notice states that she is free to present her arguments against the petition on the scheduled hearing date or on any subsequent date if the matter is postponed.

The development comes days after the Delhi High Court issued notices to several individuals who had been discharged in the case earlier. Among those who received notices were former Arvind Kejriwal, the former Chief Minister of Delhi, and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, along with Kavitha and around 20 other accused.
The notices were issued after the CBI challenged a ruling by the Rouse Avenue Court, which had discharged all the accused in the case. The investigative agency has now approached the Delhi High Court seeking a review of that decision.
Kavitha confirmed receiving the notice through a post on X, stating that she had been officially informed about the petition being taken up for hearing in the High Court.
“I have been served a notice by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) at around 12:30 PM today, informing me of the petition being presented in the Hon’ble High Court on 16/03/26. I am in consultation with my legal team and will respond appropriately through official channels,” she wrote.
She also urged the public and stakeholders not to misinterpret the notice, explaining that such communication is part of the standard legal process when an investigating agency files an appeal in a higher court.
“As someone confident that the truth will prevail, I intend to fully cooperate with the legal machinery. Serving a notice when an appeal is filed by the investigating agency in a higher court is a prescribed legal procedure,” she added.
Earlier, on February 27, the Rouse Avenue Court had granted a clean chit to all the accused in the case. Reacting to the verdict at the time, Kavitha had said that the judiciary had “cut through the web of lies” and that the judgment reaffirmed her faith in the justice system.
Kavitha, daughter of K. Chandrasekhar Rao, president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi and former Chief Minister of Telangana, had been arrested by both the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate in March 2024 in connection with the alleged irregularities in the Delhi excise policy.
At the time of her arrest, she was serving as a Member of the Legislative Council from the BRS. She spent more than five months in jail before being released on bail later in the year.
Subsequently, Kavitha resigned from the BRS and also stepped down from her position as MLC after she was suspended from the party over allegations of anti-party activities. The latest development marks another phase in the ongoing legal proceedings related to the Delhi excise policy case.
