Rajasthan Chief Secretary Inaugurates Art Exhibition at Jawahar Kala Kendra
Jaipur, March 2026 : On the occasion of Rajasthan Day, Chief Secretary V. Srinivas inaugurated a painting exhibition organized by the Rajasthan Lalit Kala Akademi at the art gallery of Jawahar Kala Kendra on Sunday morning.
Additional Chief Secretary for Tourism, Art, Literature and Culture, and Archaeology as well as Director General of Jawahar Kala Kendra Praveen Gupta, and Deputy Secretary of the Art, Literature and Culture and Archaeology Department and Additional Director General of Jawahar Kala Kendra Dr. Anuradha Gogiya were also present on the occasion.
The Chief Secretary lit the ceremonial lamp and inaugurated three art exhibitions by cutting the ribbon. He closely observed the paintings displayed in the exhibition, interacted with the artists about their works, appreciated the artwork, and encouraged the painters.
Encourage Participation to Promote Art and Culture
Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas appreciated the performances of folk artists and encouraged them. Talking to journalists, he said that during Rajasthan Day Week, the Tourism, Art, Literature and Culture, and Archaeology Department is celebrating the state’s history, art, and culture through week-long events. He appealed to the people of the state to actively participate in the various programmes being organized and contribute to promoting Rajasthan’s art, literature, and culture.
He said both the Government of Rajasthan and the Government of India are committed to promoting the country’s art, culture, and historical heritage. The state government is consistently working to provide platforms for artists. Efforts are also being made to ensure that artists from Rajasthan receive opportunities to showcase their talent at local and state levels as well as at national and international platforms.
Poster Released for Rajasthan Day Events
On the occasion, the Chief Secretary also released a poster of the programmes that will be organized by various academies at Jawahar Kala Kendra during Rajasthan Day celebrations.
Earlier, upon his arrival at Jawahar Kala Kendra, Additional Chief Secretary Praveen Gupta welcomed him by presenting a bouquet.
Gupta informed that this year Rajasthan Day will be celebrated on Chaitra Shukla Pratipada (March 19), as announced last year by the state government. To mark the occasion, various programmes are being organized across the state from March 14 to March 19 as part of Rajasthan Day Week by the Tourism, Art, Literature and Culture, and Archaeology Department.
Dr. Anuradha Gogiya said that the exhibition also includes artworks created by women artists during a workshop organized on the occasion of International Women’s Day, as well as works created during the “Rangreet” programme organized at Jawahar Kala Kendra and by the Rajasthan Lalit Kala Akademi.
The event was attended by Tourism Department Joint Directors Rajesh Sharma, Puneeta Singh and Dalip Singh Rathore, Secretary of the Lalit Kala Akademi Dr. Rajneesh Harsh, Archaeology Department Director Pankaj Dharend, along with other officials, senior artists and members of the public.
Programmes on March 16 at Jawahar Kala Kendra
Dr. Gogiya said that as part of the Rajasthan Day celebrations, a series of programmes will continue at Jawahar Kala Kendra in collaboration with various academies. On March 16 at 11:00 a.m., a painting exhibition organized by the Rajasthan Lalit Kala Akademi will open at the Surekh Art Gallery and will remain open to visitors until March 19.
On the same day at 6:00 p.m., a musical programme featuring songs and ghazals by Rajab Ali Bharti will be held at the Rangayan Auditorium of Jawahar Kala Kendra. This will be followed by a bhajan performance by the Hussain Brothers, recipients of the Padma Shri.
