IRCTC to Launch Revamped Ticket Booking Website on July 15 with Faster Bookings and New Features

New Delhi, July 2026 : The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will launch a revamped version of its ticket booking website on July 15, introducing a host of new features aimed at making train ticket reservations faster, smoother and more user-friendly.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the rollout during an event in Rajasthan after students raised concerns about the difficulties they often face while booking train tickets through the existing IRCTC portal. The upgraded platform is expected to significantly improve the online booking experience, particularly during peak demand periods such as Tatkal ticket reservations.

One of the biggest enhancements is a major increase in booking capacity. The new website will be capable of processing more than 1.5 lakh ticket bookings per minute, a substantial leap from the current capacity of around 32,000 bookings per minute. This upgrade is expected to reduce delays, improve system stability and ensure quicker confirmations during high-traffic periods.

The Passenger Reservation System (PRS) has also undergone a significant overhaul. It will now be able to handle over 40 lakh enquiries per minute, compared to the existing capacity of around 4 lakh enquiries per minute. The enhanced infrastructure is expected to improve response times and minimise system slowdowns when users search for trains, fares and seat availability.

The revamped website introduces several passenger-friendly features to simplify the booking process. Travellers will now be able to choose their preferred seat preferences while booking tickets. A newly added fare calendar will allow passengers to compare ticket prices across different travel dates, helping them identify the most economical travel options.

To make the platform more inclusive, the website will support multiple Indian languages, enabling passengers from different regions to navigate the portal more easily. Special booking facilities for Divyangjan (persons with disabilities), students and patients will also be integrated into a single platform, making access to these services simpler and more convenient.

The redesigned interface focuses on improving user experience by removing unnecessary interruptions during the booking process. The new portal will feature fewer pop-ups, reduced CAPTCHA prompts and a cleaner layout, making ticket reservations quicker and more seamless, especially for Tatkal bookings where speed is critical.

Another major addition is a unified seat availability display, allowing passengers to view available seats across all travel classes—including Sleeper, AC 3 Tier, AC 2 Tier and others—on a single screen. This feature will eliminate the need to search each class separately, making it easier to compare options before confirming a booking.

With these upgrades, Indian Railways aims to modernise its digital ticketing platform and provide millions of passengers with a faster, more reliable and convenient online booking experience. The revamped IRCTC website is expected to become operational from July 15.
