PM Modi to Launch ‘Nasha Mukta Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ Campaign to Mobilise Youth Against Drug Abuse

New Delhi, Aug 2026 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the “Nasha Mukta Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyaan” on Sunday through video conferencing, seeking to mobilise young people across the country in the collective effort to build a drug-free India.

The nationwide campaign will begin as a Jan Bhagidari (people’s participation) movement, led by MY Bharat youth volunteers. It aims to bring together young citizens and encourage them to actively contribute to the vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat, while supporting the broader national objective of building a developed India by 2047.

During the launch, Prime Minister Modi is expected to call upon young people to become ambassadors of positive social change and take the message of a drug-free society to their communities.

According to the campaign plan, around 10,000 locations across the country will participate simultaneously after the Prime Minister’s launch. More than one crore youth are expected to take part in a nationwide pledge against drug abuse, giving the campaign a major grassroots dimension.

The initiative will also feature a series of activities every Sunday across the country. These programmes are designed to spread awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse while encouraging communities, particularly young people, to participate in constructive social activities.

The weekly programmes will include sports events, walkathons, meditation sessions, cultural programmes, awareness drives, nukkad nataks, discussion forums, art competitions and community engagement activities.

Organisers said the campaign would seek to transform the fight against drug abuse into a sustained social movement rather than limiting it to a short-term awareness exercise. Youth volunteers will play a key role in connecting with communities and encouraging greater public participation.

Volunteers, organisations and other stakeholders making significant contributions to the campaign will also be recognised for their efforts. Special recognition will be given at the 50th, 75th and 100th week milestones, providing an incentive for continued participation.

The campaign is aligned with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a “Nasha Mukt Bharat” and is intended to strengthen public resolve towards achieving the broader objectives of Viksit Bharat 2047.

The organisers have emphasised that young people will remain at the centre of the initiative, with the campaign seeking to harness their energy, creativity and leadership for social transformation.

The central message of the initiative is that “drug-free youth are the greatest strength of Viksit Bharat.” Through the nationwide campaign, the government aims to take this message to young citizens in cities, towns and villages and encourage them to actively participate in building healthier, safer and drug-free communities.

The launch is expected to mark the beginning of a long-term nationwide mobilisation, with regular activities aimed at sustaining awareness and encouraging collective action against substance abuse.
