Service and Good Governance are Our Core Development Mantra for Prosperous

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Saturday announced a series of major development initiatives for Jabalpur, stating that the city would be developed into a Metropolitan City within the next year. He directed the Commissioner, Collector and other concerned officials to prepare a draft proposal for the Metropolitan City project at the earliest. The Chief Minister said, addressing a programme at Geeta Bhavan premises in Jabalpur, organised to inaugurate and perform Bhoomi Poojan for various development projects and launch a campaign to plant 11 lakh saplings, that service and good governance are the two pillars of his Government’s development vision. He said,”We are committed to the development of Madhya Pradesh and the welfare, prosperity and service of its people. “Service and good governance are our fundamental mantra for building a prosperous Madhya Pradesh,” he said, adding that the Government is fulfilling its promise of development with the guiding principle of ‘Sachcha Vaada, Pakka Kaam’.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav announced that a Furniture Cluster would be established in Jabalpur to promote the furniture industry and generate employment opportunities. He also said that the Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University, Jabalpur, would be developed into a state-level premier medical institution on the lines of AIIMS, strengthening medical education and healthcare infrastructure in the state.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, to enhance tourism and wildlife awareness, announced that a large zoological park would be developed near Madan Mahal Hill, providing visitors to the nearby national parks with improved opportunities to view wild animals. He further announced that Sandipani Schools would be established, as required, in all Assembly constituencies of Jabalpur district.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav dedicated five development projects worth approximately ₹397 crore aimed at making Jabalpur cleaner, more sustainable and better equipped with urban infrastructure. He released a coffee table book highlighting Jabalpur Municipal Corporation’s achievements in the Swachh Survekshan and distributed digital credit cards to eligible street vendors under the PM SVANidhi Scheme.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also inaugurated the AMRUT 1.0 Sewerage Project, developed at a cost of ₹362.31 crore, and dedicated three major Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) at Kathonda, Lalpur and Tevar. He inaugurated a modern laundry facility for the Rajak community in the Civil Lines area, developed at a cost of ₹25 lakh, and dedicated a modern fish marketing centre in the Gurandi Bazaar area, built at a cost of ₹2.5 crore. The Chief Minister, describing Jabalpur as a ‘Sacred City’, said that India is witnessing a golden era of development under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He highlighted several flagship welfare initiatives of the Central Government, including free food grains for 80 crore people, pucca houses, household tap water connections, free toilets, healthcare coverage of up to ₹5 lakh under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme and financial assistance for street vendors under the PM SVANidhi Scheme. The Chief Minister noted that digital credit cards distributed to beneficiaries in Jabalpur would further strengthen small businesses and improve livelihoods. He reiterated the State Government’s commitment to ensuring that the benefits of development reach every poor household.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav launched an intensive campaign to plant 11 lakh saplings in Jabalpur, saying that environmental conservation is a shared responsibility. He said that trees are as valuable as sages in human life, providing clean air and sustaining the environment. The Chief Minister said, referring to the Miyawaki plantation method, that nearly 12,000 saplings can be planted on one acre, creating dense forests within three years. He described Madhya Pradesh as the ‘Nadiyon ka Maayaka’ and said its rivers and forests are vital to ecological balance and prosperity, benefiting not only the state but also neighbouring regions.

Uniform Civil Code Based on Equality and Equal Respect

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the State Government has decided to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) with the objective of ensuring ‘equality for all and equal respect for every citizen’. He informed that over three crore SMS messages were sent seeking public feedback on the proposed legislation, resulting in more than 10 lakh suggestions received by the UCC Committee. According to him, over 74 per cent of Muslim women who submitted suggestions supported implementation of the UCC.

Dr. Yadav said the Government’s approach is guided by the principle of ensuring equality before the law for all sections of society.

Strengthening Education, Employment and Public Infrastructure

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the Public Works Department has emerged as one of the country’s best-performing departments, with several innovations adopted by other states. He added that Madhya Pradesh has also introduced significant reforms to the colonial-era Highways Act and the Fire Safety Act. The Chief Minister said, highlighting initiatives in education and employment, that Sandipani Schools are being established across the state to provide value-based, high-quality education. The Government has recruited 10,000 teachers this year and filled more than 18,000 posts in the Police Department. He further informed that after resolving the issue related to reservation in promotions, nearly 2.5 lakh government employees across departments have been promoted, including 25,000 personnel in the Police Department.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the state now has more than 75 universities, compared to only two at the time of Independence, and reiterated that the Medical Science University in Jabalpur would be developed into a premier institution on the lines of AIIMS.

Madhya Pradesh Strengthening Wildlife Conservation

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh, already recognised as the Tiger State, has also emerged as the leading state for cheetah conservation. He noted that the cheetah population has increased from 20 to 52 after their reintroduction in the state. The Chief Minister said that Madhya Pradesh is also a leading state in the conservation of crocodiles, gharials, vultures and leopards. The Government is working to strengthen biodiversity and promote wildlife tourism, with plans to introduce wild buffalo and, in the future, rhinoceroses and king cobras into suitable natural habitats as part of long-term conservation and eco-tourism initiatives.

Public Works Minister Shri Rakesh Singh, Jabalpur MP Shri Ashish Dubey, local MLAs, Mayor Shri Jagat Bahadur Singh “Annu”, and several public representatives also addressed the gathering and highlighted the Government’s development initiatives in the region. The programme was attended by elected representatives, senior officials and a large number of citizens.
