Bhilwara Set for Global Textile Recognition with ‘Cotton Kasturi’: Chief Secretary Srinivas

Jaipur, March 2026 : Rajasthan Chief Secretary V. Srinivas highlighted Bhilwara’s rapid progress in the textile sector during his one-day visit to the district, stating that the region is steadily moving towards global recognition through initiatives like “Cotton Kasturi.”

He noted that Bhilwara’s spinning capacity has witnessed remarkable growth over the years. From around 60,000 spindles in the past, the capacity has now expanded to nearly 15 lakh spindles, with a strong potential to reach 50 lakh in the coming years. He described this growth as a significant milestone in establishing Bhilwara as a leading textile hub in India.

During his visit, Srinivas participated in an interaction programme with entrepreneurs and investors on the theme of “Cotton Kasturi,” where discussions focused on future opportunities and expansion in the textile industry. He emphasized that Bhilwara is well-positioned to enhance its global footprint in textiles through innovation, investment, and policy support.

Rupahéli Textile Park to Boost Industry
The Chief Secretary stated that, in line with the vision of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the state government is committed to providing full support to industrial growth. He announced that the development of the Rupahéli Textile Park will give fresh momentum to industrial activities in the region. He also noted that the recently introduced textile policy of the state will further benefit investors and entrepreneurs.

Srinivas visited Nitin Spinners Limited, where he reviewed the spinning mill’s production process in detail. He examined the entire production chain—from raw materials to finished products—and appreciated the use of advanced machinery, automation, and strong quality control systems.

He remarked that the adoption of modern technology has not only increased production capacity but also significantly improved product quality. Expressing satisfaction over cotton cultivation in nearly 30,000 hectares in the Bhilwara region, he suggested organizing a global conference on “Kasturi Cotton” in the future to showcase opportunities and attract international attention.

The Chief Secretary also underlined that Bhilwara has carved a distinct identity in the textile sector across the country. He said that industrial units like Nitin Spinners are generating large-scale employment locally while contributing significantly to the state’s economy.

Praising innovation, energy efficiency, and export potential in the sector, Srinivas said such efforts align with national initiatives like “Make in India” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat.” He urged the district administration and industry stakeholders to ensure continuous growth in production while maintaining high standards of quality, innovation, and environmental sustainability.

He also stressed the importance of safeguarding workers’ interests, safety, and welfare, calling it essential for sustainable industrial development.
