Governor attends sickle cell anaemia screening camp

Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel was welcomed today in village Padariya of Kundeshwar Dham, a tribal dominated development block of the district. Governor Shri Patel attended the sickle cell screening camp organised at the Primary Health Centre here. He also interacted with women sarpanchs and students in the Jan Samvad programme organised at the Government Higher Secondary School and had lunch at the residence of Sitaram, a beneficiary of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. MLA Shri Santosh Varkade, District Panchayat President Smt. Asha Gontiya and Janpad Panchayat President Shri Surendra Dhurve were also present in these programmes with Governor Shri Patel.

Governor Dr. Mangubhai Patel was welcomed by tribal artists with traditional dance on his arrival at Padariya. He was adorned with a Baiga turban and a Tulsi plant was presented. Governor Shri Patel first attended the sickle cell anaemia screening camp organised at the Primary Health Centre in Padariya. He had a look at the exhibition on the causes, treatment and diagnosis of sickle cell anaemia and on national health programmes. The Governor distributed the benefits under various schemes of the Health Department. He handed over pension acceptance letters to the sickle cell anaemia victims, Ayushman cards to the beneficiaries of the Baiga group and nutritious food kits to tuberculosis patients and pregnant women. Collector Deepak Saxena, Superintendent of Police Aditya Pratap Singh and Regional Director Health Dr. Sanjay Mishra were also present in the camp.

After the sickle cell anaemia check-up camp, Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel participated in the Jan Samvad program organised at Government Higher Secondary School Padariya and interacted with the students. He advised the students to study diligently for a better future. The Governor also observed the exhibition organised by the students of the school. In the exhibition, models based on geography, science and rural environment were displayed by the children. Shri Patel discussed topics related to children while observing the exhibition. He also observed the exhibition showcasing the activities of women self-help groups of the area.

Urges women Sarpanchs to extend benefits of schemes to every eligible person

Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel, while discussing PM Janman Maha Abhiyan with 36 women Sarpanchs of Kundeshwardham development block in a programme of Jan Samvad, said that this campaign is dedicated to extend the benefits of government schemes to every eligible person of extremely backward tribes.

The Governor informed that PM Janman Maha Abhiyan, launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi from Jharkhand about a year ago, is providing benefits of government schemes to the specially backward tribes even in remote settlements. These include concrete houses, pure drinking water, electricity, roads, health, education, skill development, mobile medical unit, nutrition diet etc. Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel urged women Sarpanchs to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach every eligible beneficiary in their area. Referring to schemes like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, Ladli Behna Yojana, he said that these schemes of the Central and State Government have brought positive changes in the lives of people. The objective of these schemes is social welfare and everyone has to ensure working together for social welfare.

Discusses sickle cell anaemia too

While discussing sickle cell anaemia, the Governor said that it is a genetic disease. Due to lack of awareness, this disease is not treated on time. Shri Patel said that the spread of this disease is more in tribal areas. This disease shows serious effects due to being related to blood. The Governor, while stressing the need for coordinated efforts for the prevention of sickle cell anaemia, said that public representatives will also have to pay special attention to this. Public representatives should make the people of their area aware, get as many surveys done as possible and provide the affected people the benefit of free health service run by the government, so that the spread of the disease can be checked.
