Tiger Cubs Born at Nahargarh Biological Park Healthy, Under Special Monitoring

Jaipur, May 2026: Both tiger cubs born to tigress Bhakti at the Tiger Safari in Nahargarh Biological Park on April 18 are healthy and are currently under special medical supervision, officials said on Thursday.

Tigress Bhakti was brought to the biological park from Pune Zoo in 2024 under a wildlife exchange programme, while the male tiger paired with her was brought from Nagpur Zoo the same year.

Due to Bhakti’s unusual behaviour after giving birth, including her refusal to feed the cubs, and considering the fragile condition of the newborns, a medical board constituted by the Veterinary Polyclinic at Panch Batti recommended shifting the cubs to the Neonatal Care Unit of the wildlife hospital for intensive medical monitoring and hand-rearing.

Since being shifted, the cubs have been receiving round-the-clock observation and specialised care from wildlife veterinarians and staff members.

Officials said both cubs have now opened their eyes and their behaviour and physical activities are normal. Several medical examinations have also been conducted, and all reports have shown normal health parameters.

The cubs have shown steady weight gain since being moved to the Neonatal Care Unit, and their diet is being gradually increased under expert supervision. Daily health check-ups are also being carried out to closely monitor their development.

Wildlife doctors are providing the cubs with essential vitamins, minerals and other medications required for their growth and recovery. In addition, their daily activities are being continuously monitored through CCTV cameras to ensure proper care and safety.

Forest and wildlife officials said the cubs are responding well to treatment and supervision, and all necessary precautions are being taken to ensure their healthy development.
