Chief Minister Attends NCC Fest and Parasailing Camp in Lunglei

Lunglei, May 2026: Lalduhoma on Thursday attended the ongoing National Cadet Corps (NCC) Fest and Parasailing Camp organised by the 2 Mizo Battalion NCC at Thuamluaia Mual and the 2 BN MAP Ground in Lunglei as the chief guest.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister praised the initiatives of the 2 Battalion NCC and said that many young people in the state were being guided towards discipline and responsible citizenship through NCC training. He noted that Mizoram now has its own NCC Group Headquarters, which has been working actively and efficiently, resulting in significant progress within a short span of time.

He said many youths associated with NCC have already joined the Army, Police and Territorial Army, reflecting the positive impact of the organisation on the lives of young people.

The Chief Minister also appealed to parents to encourage and support NCC activities. Referring to the growing problem of drug abuse in the state, he said many youths were losing their way and needed proper guidance and leadership. He stated that NCC has strong experience and expertise in mentoring young people and helps shape them into disciplined, hardworking, patient and responsible citizens.

He added that even if cadets do not eventually join the armed forces, the training and discipline acquired through NCC greatly benefit them in their future careers and livelihoods.

Lalduhoma also welcomed NCC cadets from neighbouring states who had come to participate in the festival and said that NCC serves as an excellent platform for strengthening unity and friendship among people from different communities and regions.

He expressed appreciation to the organisers, especially the 2 Battalion NCC, for successfully conducting the event.

During the festival, various NCC awards were distributed, cultural performances were presented and numerous stalls were set up as part of the celebrations.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by Health Minister Lalrinpuii, Lunglei district MLAs V. Malsawmtluanga, T. Lalhlimpuia and Lalramliana Papuia, along with Lt. Col. Clement Lalhmingthanga, Lunglei Municipal Council members, Lunglei Deputy Commissioner Navneet Mann and other district officials.

The NCC Fest, the first of its kind in Mizoram, is being held from May 5 to May 11.

After attending the festival, the Chief Minister visited the Health ATM facility at Lunglei District Hospital and later toured the Astronomy Lab at Electric Veng Leitlangpui Higher Secondary School.

Both the Health ATM and the Astronomy Lab were established through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding facilitated by Lunglei Deputy Commissioner Navneet Mann.
