Mahtari Vandan Yojana Becomes a Foundation for Women’s Self-Reliance

Raipur, July 2026 : The Mahtari Vandan Yojana, under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, is emerging as a strong means of providing economic security and promoting self-reliance among women. Through monthly financial assistance, rural women are not only meeting their household needs but are also moving towards self-employment and entrepreneurship.

Ganeshri Sahu of Sakti district is progressing towards self-reliance after receiving the 29th instalment under the scheme. She is using the financial assistance to meet healthcare, nutritional and household requirements. This has reduced the financial burden on her family while also boosting her confidence.

Sarita Sahu of Janjgir-Champa has used the assistance received under the scheme to save money and start a tailoring business. She currently earns additional income for her family by stitching clothes. She is also training other women and encouraging them to pursue self-employment.

Through the scheme, women are investing in healthcare, education and small businesses, resulting in continuous improvement in their economic and social status.

So far, under the scheme, a total of ₹18,805.83 crore has been directly transferred into women’s bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) in 29 instalments.

The scheme has emerged as an important initiative towards empowering women and enabling them to lead lives with greater financial security, dignity and self-reliance.
