Vijay Files Nomination from Tiruchy East Amid Massive Supporter Turnout

Tiruchy, April 2026 : Actor-turned-politician Vijay, leader of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), filed his nomination from the Tiruchy East constituency on Thursday, drawing huge crowds of supporters and creating a charged political atmosphere in the city.

As Vijay’s convoy moved through Tiruchy, hundreds of enthusiastic supporters followed his vehicle, cheering and attempting to catch a glimpse of their leader. Despite efforts by the police to control the swelling crowd and maintain order, the situation briefly turned chaotic due to the overwhelming turnout.

During the procession, a minor incident caused concern when a woman running alongside the convoy reportedly lost her balance and fell. Witnessing the situation, Vijay immediately halted his vehicle, stepped out, and personally checked on the woman’s condition. His prompt response drew appreciation from those present before he resumed his journey.

The incident briefly disrupted traffic and added to the emotionally charged environment surrounding the nomination event. However, order was soon restored, allowing proceedings to continue smoothly.

Later, Vijay reached the Tiruchy East constituency office, where he formally submitted his nomination papers to Returning Officer Muthu Murugesa Pandian. The filing marked a significant step in his political campaign as he seeks to expand his party’s presence in Tamil Nadu’s electoral landscape.

Notably, Vijay is contesting from two constituencies in this election. He had earlier filed his nomination from Perambalur, indicating an aggressive electoral strategy aimed at strengthening his political foothold.

Following the nomination process, Vijay visited the statue of M. G. Ramachandran (MGR), a revered political icon in Tamil Nadu, and paid floral tributes. The gesture symbolised his attempt to connect with the legacy of influential leaders who have shaped the state’s political history.

Interacting with the public and media, Vijay raised several issues related to governance and public welfare. He highlighted concerns over the reported shortage of LPG cylinders in certain regions, questioning whether all households were receiving adequate supplies.

He also criticised both the central and state governments for what he described as insufficient action on key public issues. Taking a direct swipe at Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, Vijay questioned why the latter had not travelled to Delhi to address the LPG shortage, despite doing so for other matters.

In addition, Vijay expressed concern over law-and-order issues, citing the recent killing of a schoolgirl in Vilathikulam. He said such incidents have created fear among the public and stressed the need for stronger governance and accountability.

Calling for political change, Vijay urged voters to reject what he termed “evil forces” in power, intensifying his criticism of the ruling administration.

With a dual-constituency contest and a high-energy campaign style, Vijay has injected fresh momentum into the electoral battle in Tamil Nadu, positioning himself as a key challenger in the state’s evolving political landscape.
