Telangana Team Emerges Overall Winner at All India Police Duty Meet

Nagpur, April 2026 : Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai said that competitions like the All India Police Duty Meet play a crucial role in strengthening the efficiency, investigative skills, and intellectual capacity of police personnel.

Addressing the closing ceremony of the All India Police Duty Meet 2025–26 held at Shivaji Stadium in the Nagpur City Police Headquarters, Rai highlighted that such events showcase the technical expertise and investigative abilities within the police force. He noted that a strong internal security framework is essential for building a “Developed India” under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and such platforms contribute significantly toward that goal.

The week-long event, held from March 29 to April 3, witnessed participation from police personnel representing 29 states as well as central armed police forces. Awards were presented to winning teams by the Union Minister.

Senior officials present at the event included Director General of Police Sadanand Date, Additional Director Generals Sunil Ramanand and Madhukar Pandey, Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, and other top officers.

Rai remarked that the meet reflected a “mini India,” bringing together diverse police forces from across the country. He praised the discipline and talent displayed during the competitions and expressed confidence that such events would inspire excellence in policing nationwide. He also emphasized the need for police forces to adopt modern technologies, including artificial intelligence, to enhance their operational effectiveness.

Congratulating the Nagpur Police for successfully organising the event, he highlighted the increasing importance of specialised units such as dog squads in modern investigations, noting their proven effectiveness in solving complex cases.

In the overall standings, the Telangana team emerged as the top performer. In the ‘Office Automation’ category under Computer Awareness, Telangana secured first place, with the Border Security Force (BSF) finishing second. In the ‘Scientific Aid to Investigation’ category, Tamil Nadu (Team A) won, followed by Telangana, while Tamil Nadu (Team B) secured third place.

The BSF team won the Police Photography competition, with Telangana finishing as runner-up. Telangana also clinched top honours in the ‘Anti-Sabotage Check’ and Police Videography categories, with Maharashtra finishing second in both.

In the Computer Awareness category, Telangana again emerged as the winner, followed by BSF. In the WIT (Wireless/IT) competition, ITBP’s Manoj Singh Bist and Avin secured first place, while Maharashtra’s Akola Superintendent of Police Archit Chandak and Majid Khan Pathan finished second.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) dominated the Police Dog and Dog Obedience competitions, winning both categories.

The meet featured six major competitions, including Computer Awareness, Police Dog Trials, Police Videography, Anti-Sabotage Checks, Scientific Aid to Investigation, and Police Photography. These contests effectively highlighted the growing role of technology and scientific methods in modern policing.

Additional Director General Sunil Ramanand delivered the vote of thanks. The event was also attended by senior officers, including Principal of the Police Training Centre Reena Janbandhu and Superintendent of Police (CID) Pallavi Barge, along with other police personnel.
