Trump Undergoes Routine Medical and Dental Check-Up at Walter Reed Ahead of 80th Birthday

Washington, May 2026 : US President Donald Trump underwent a routine annual medical and dental examination at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Tuesday, as public attention surrounding his health continues ahead of his 80th birthday next month.

According to White House pool reports, Trump arrived at the Bethesda, Maryland-based medical facility at 8:51 a.m. and remained there for more than two-and-a-half hours before departing at 12:27 p.m.

The White House described the visit as part of Trump’s “regular preventative health care” and said the appointment included standard annual medical and dental assessments. It marked the third scheduled medical visit by Trump to Walter Reed within the last 13 months.

During his time at the facility, Trump also met military personnel and staff members, the White House said.

The medical visit comes amid growing public scrutiny over Trump’s health and fitness as he approaches his 80th birthday on June 14. Questions surrounding the President’s physical condition have intensified in recent months following visible bruising on his hands and swelling in his legs during several public appearances.

According to reports by The New York Times, the White House attributed the bruises on Trump’s hands to frequent handshakes during public engagements. Doctors have meanwhile stated that the swelling in his legs is linked to chronic venous insufficiency, a condition that affects blood circulation in the veins.

Earlier reports by The Hill said Trump had undergone a CT scan during a previous visit to Walter Reed after his medical team sought to definitively rule out any cardiovascular issues. Trump’s physician, Dr Sean Barbabella, reportedly described the scan as “perfectly normal” and said it revealed “absolutely no abnormalities.”

The President is also reported to take approximately 325 milligrams of aspirin daily as part of a cardiac prevention regimen. In an earlier interview with The Wall Street Journal, Trump himself acknowledged that aspirin use may have contributed to bruising on his hands.

White House doctors are expected to release a summary of the latest examination in the coming days, although the level of detail disclosed in presidential medical reports has historically varied across administrations.

Trump has consistently rejected concerns about his age and health and frequently questioned former President Joe Biden’s fitness during the 2024 presidential campaign. Age and physical fitness became major issues during the last election cycle, as both Trump and Biden were the oldest major-party presidential candidates in US history.

The latest medical assessment is likely to renew public and political discussions around presidential health transparency, especially as Trump continues to remain a central figure in American politics ahead of another intense election season.
