CJP Alleges Police Harassment of NEET Protesters in Rajasthan, Warns of Fresh Agitation

Jaipur, July 2026 : The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Monday accused the Rajasthan Police of continuing to harass students who participated in protests against the NEET paper leak, despite an alleged agreement to withdraw cases registered against demonstrators. The organisation warned that it would launch a fresh round of protests if the alleged intimidation does not cease immediately.

In a video statement, CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka claimed that members of the party’s core team in Rajasthan were being repeatedly targeted by law enforcement agencies. According to him, police personnel have been visiting the homes of student activists and contacting them over the phone, creating an atmosphere of fear even after assurances that legal action against the protesters would be withdrawn.

Ranka said the continued police action violated the understanding reached on July 25 between the authorities and representatives of the protesting students. He urged both the Union government and the Rajasthan government to honour the agreement in letter and spirit and ensure that no further action is taken against those who participated in peaceful demonstrations.

He also called on the Centre to make the written agreement public, saying transparency would help remove confusion and reassure students that the promises made by the government would be implemented. According to Ranka, several students remain anxious as police continue to approach them despite the reported settlement.

Drawing comparisons with other states, Ranka claimed that the Bihar government had already withdrawn all cases registered against student protesters, while FIRs filed in West Bengal had also been withdrawn. He said Rajasthan should follow a similar course and immediately end what he described as unnecessary harassment of students.

The CJP warned that if police personnel continue visiting students’ homes or summoning them through phone calls, the organisation would have no option but to revive its agitation against the authorities.

The nationwide protests over the alleged NEET paper leak saw large-scale participation from students across Rajasthan and several other states. Many students travelled to Jantar Mantar in New Delhi to join demonstrations, while protest marches and sit-ins were also held in Jaipur and other cities across the state.

In Jaipur, CJP supporters staged prolonged demonstrations at Jawahar Circle, demanding a fair investigation into the examination controversy and protection for protesting students. As of Monday evening, the Rajasthan Police had not issued an official response to the allegations made by the organisation.
