Jaiswal’s Blitz and Bowlers’ Dominance Power Rajasthan Royals to Third Straight Win

Guwahati, April 2026 : Rajasthan Royals continued their impressive run in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, securing their third consecutive victory with a commanding 27-run win over Mumbai Indians in a rain-curtailed 11-overs-a-side encounter at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati on Tuesday. The result propelled Rajasthan Royals to the top of the points table with six points, underlining their strong start to the season.

The match, delayed by nearly two-and-a-half hours due to persistent rain, eventually turned into a high-octane contest where Rajasthan Royals dominated both with the bat and ball. The foundation of their victory was laid by a sensational innings from Yashasvi Jaiswal, who remained unbeaten on 77 off just 32 balls. His knock, studded with 10 boundaries and four sixes, powered the Royals to a formidable total of 150/3 in the allotted 11 overs.

Jaiswal found an able partner in the young Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, and the duo stitched together a blistering 80-run opening partnership in no time. Their aggressive approach put the Mumbai Indians bowlers on the back foot right from the start. Jaiswal set the tone early, smashing 22 runs off the very first over bowled by Deepak Chahar, taking full advantage of loose deliveries.

The much-anticipated face-off between teenage sensation Sooryavanshi and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah added further excitement. The 15-year-old did not disappoint, confidently taking on Bumrah and dispatching him for two towering sixes in a single over. Rajasthan raced to their fifty in just 16 balls, showcasing their aggressive intent.

Trent Boult was also taken to the cleaners as Jaiswal hammered consecutive sixes off his first two deliveries. Sooryavanshi complemented him brilliantly, punishing anything short or on the pads. The youngster’s explosive innings came to an end at 39 off just 14 balls, featuring five sixes and a boundary, when he was caught near the boundary off Shardul Thakur. Despite the dismissal, the damage had already been done.

Dhruv Jurel fell cheaply, but Jaiswal continued his onslaught, bringing up a well-deserved half-century in just 23 balls. His innings was a perfect blend of timing, power, and placement. Skipper Riyan Parag added quick runs with a cameo of 20 off 10 balls before departing, while Jaiswal remained unbeaten till the end, guiding Rajasthan to a daunting total.

In response, Mumbai Indians crumbled under pressure from the very beginning. Chasing 151 in just 11 overs required a strong start, but early wickets derailed their chase. Ryan Rickelton was dismissed in the first over, followed by Suryakumar Yadav, who fell shortly after hitting a six. The situation worsened when Rohit Sharma was trapped lbw by Sandeep Sharma, reducing Mumbai to 22/3 in the third over.

Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma tried to stabilize the innings briefly, but their efforts were short-lived. Pandya was dismissed for 9, while Tilak departed after scoring 14, leaving Mumbai struggling at 46/5 within five overs. The disciplined bowling attack of Rajasthan Royals, led by Sandeep Sharma, Nandre Burger, and Ravi Bishnoi, ensured there was no way back for the five-time champions.

Naman Dhir and Sherfane Rutherford showed some resistance in the middle overs, hitting a few boundaries and sixes to keep faint hopes alive. However, a stunning low catch by Sandeep Sharma to dismiss Rutherford effectively ended Mumbai’s chances. The team eventually finished at 123/9 in 11 overs, falling well short of the target.

Rajasthan’s bowlers executed their plans to perfection, mixing pace and variations effectively on a surface that offered some assistance after the rain interruption. The early breakthroughs and sustained pressure proved decisive in sealing the victory.

With this win, Rajasthan Royals have firmly established themselves as early contenders in the tournament, showcasing a balanced combination of explosive batting and disciplined bowling. Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, will need to regroup quickly after suffering their second consecutive defeat, especially addressing their top-order vulnerabilities.

The match, despite being shortened, delivered thrilling moments and standout performances, particularly from Jaiswal and Sooryavanshi, whose fearless batting lit up the contest and set the stage for Rajasthan’s dominant triumph.
