Rahul Gandhi Praises Priyanka in Lok Sabha, Light-Hearted Remarks Trigger Laughter

New Delhi, April 2026 : Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Friday brought a lighter moment to Parliament as he openly praised his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, acknowledging her political sharpness with a touch of humor that left members across the House amused.

Participating in the ongoing debate on key legislative bills, Rahul Gandhi remarked that Priyanka had managed to achieve in just five minutes what he had been unable to accomplish in two decades of political life. Referring to her recent speech in Parliament, he said he felt proud watching her performance, particularly noting that she succeeded in making Union Home Minister Amit Shah smile during the exchange.

The candid admission, delivered in a jovial tone, drew laughter from members across party lines. Continuing in the same vein, Rahul Gandhi made another humorous observation, drawing a comparison between himself and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He quipped that neither he nor the Prime Minister had “family issues,” prompting further laughter in the House.

The comments came a day after Priyanka Gandhi delivered a sharp and assertive speech in Parliament, where she questioned the government’s approach to key legislative proposals. In her address, she took a pointed dig at the political strategy behind the women’s reservation bill, suggesting that it had been cleverly linked with the delimitation process.

Invoking the ancient strategist Chanakya, Priyanka Gandhi remarked that if he were alive today, he might be surprised by the level of political maneuvering on display. Her remark, directed at Amit Shah, was delivered with a smile and was met with a similar response from the Home Minister, adding a moment of levity to an otherwise serious debate.

Joining the discussion on the second day of deliberations, Rahul Gandhi also used the opportunity to emphasize the importance of women in shaping both personal lives and the nation’s future. He described “nari shakti” as a central force in India’s collective consciousness, highlighting the influence of women in guiding values and decisions.

Reflecting on his own life, he shared a personal anecdote from his childhood, recalling how he once feared darkness and how his grandmother helped him overcome it by teaching him important life lessons. He noted that such experiences underscore the profound impact women have on individuals and society.

Blending humor with reflection, Rahul Gandhi’s remarks added a human touch to the parliamentary proceedings, even as debates on critical legislation continued.
