Rashid Khan’s Late Strike Restricts KKR to 180 Despite Cameron Green’s Heroics
Delhi, April 2026 : In the 25th match of the Indian Premier League 2026, the Kolkata Knight Riders posted a total of 180 runs, falling just short of a bigger score despite a standout innings from Cameron Green.
The turning point came on the final ball of the innings when Rashid Khan delivered a crucial breakthrough. Bowling the last delivery of the 20th over, Rashid induced Green into attempting a big shot. However, the ball went straight to Jos Buttler, who completed a sharp catch without any error, ending Green’s impressive knock and KKR’s innings at 180.
Green was the backbone of KKR’s batting effort, scoring a fluent 79 runs off 55 balls. His innings was marked by elegant stroke play and consistent run-scoring, ensuring that the team maintained momentum throughout. He anchored the innings effectively and looked set to take the total beyond the 200-run mark, but his dismissal on the final delivery proved costly.
Rashid Khan, known for his control and match-winning abilities, once again delivered under pressure. He bowled a disciplined spell, maintaining tight lines and lengths while picking up key wickets. His final-over strike not only removed KKR’s top performer but also ensured that the opposition remained within a chaseable limit.
The Gujarat Titans bowlers as a unit displayed commendable discipline, restricting KKR from accelerating freely in the death overs. While Green’s innings gave KKR a competitive total, the lack of strong finishing prevented them from posting a more daunting score.
Chasing 181, Gujarat Titans will now aim for a solid start with the bat. The target is within reach, but the pressure of a competitive total means their batting lineup will need to execute plans carefully to secure victory.
