Vijay Makes Emotional Poll Pitch, Urges Voters to Back TVK’s ‘Whistle’ Symbol

Chennai, April 2026 : Actor-turned-politician Vijay, president of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), made a heartfelt appeal to the people of Tamil Nadu ahead of the April 23 Assembly elections, urging them to support his party and vote for its “whistle” symbol.

In a detailed statement released on Tuesday, Vijay expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming love and support he has received since stepping into politics. Reflecting on his journey, he said that despite facing “unimaginable challenges, restrictions and pain,” it was the unwavering trust of the people that kept him going.

Launching a strong attack on his political opponents, Vijay described the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) as a “people-opposing force.” He also criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of promoting divisive and ideological politics that threaten social harmony in the state.

He asserted that he would not bow to pressure from what he termed “fascist forces” or corporate interests attempting to influence political outcomes. Emphasising his resolve, Vijay said that no amount of intimidation or coercion could weaken the bond he shares with the people of Tamil Nadu.

The TVK leader credited the party’s rise to divine blessings, the strength and support of women and youth, and the encouragement of Tamils across the globe. He highlighted that his political journey was not backed by traditional power structures or established political machinery but was driven entirely by grassroots support.

“People have accepted me as one among them, and no force in the world can separate us,” Vijay said, expressing confidence that voters would reject those trying to divide society for political gain.

He also issued a warning against “opportunistic politicians” who, according to him, enter public life for personal benefit and compromise the future of younger generations. Supporting such forces, he cautioned, would only strengthen divisive elements.

Calling upon voters to actively participate in the democratic process, Vijay urged families to come out in large numbers on polling day and cast their votes together. He described the “whistle” symbol as a symbol of change and the only clear choice for those seeking a better future for the state.

Ending his appeal on a confident note, Vijay said, “Let us lead, let us create history — victory is certain,” signalling his belief in a strong electoral performance for TVK in the upcoming elections.
