BJP Will Form Next Government in Telangana with Huge Majority, Says PM Modi
Hyderabad, May 2026 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed strong confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would form the next government in Telangana with a massive majority, asserting that the people of the state are looking for political change after becoming disillusioned with both the Congress and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
Addressing a large public gathering at the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad, the Prime Minister said the BJP was witnessing growing public support across the country and Telangana was also moving in the same direction.
Beginning his speech by referring to the BJP’s recent electoral success in West Bengal, PM Modi said the victory reflected a broader transformation in India’s political landscape.
“Yesterday, I was in Bengal. For the first time, a BJP Chief Minister has taken oath there. For the first time, a BJP government has been formed in Bengal with a massive majority. The enthusiasm for this historic victory is visible here in Telangana as well,” he said.
The Prime Minister stated that people across India are repeatedly endorsing the BJP’s model of governance and development, which he claimed was based on transparency, growth, and good governance.
According to him, the result in West Bengal was not merely a political victory but a rejection of what he described as divisive and dynastic politics.
“In this country, Congress increased corruption, promoted dynastic politics, and weakened constitutional institutions. When the Trinamool Congress was formed, it inherited all these wrong practices from Congress. It also adopted the negative political culture of the Left. Together, this created a dangerous political model in Bengal,” he alleged.
PM Modi claimed that the people of Bengal had voted decisively against what he called “political dictatorship” and that the outcome symbolised a larger national trend where voters are choosing trust and development over dynasty and appeasement politics.
“Today, from Assam to Odisha and from Bengal to Puducherry, this is not merely electoral expansion. It is a sign of a changing political mindset in India where people are placing faith in development-oriented politics,” he remarked.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the BJP government in Assam has returned to power for a third consecutive term and that the NDA government has also retained power in Puducherry.
“After such victories, I can clearly sense the mood in Telangana. Everywhere people are saying the same thing — this time, Telangana too will have a BJP government,” he declared to loud cheers from party supporters.
Recalling Telangana’s historical connection with the BJP, PM Modi said the state supported the party even during its early years when it had very little political presence nationally.
“Telangana is the land that gave the BJP an MP when the party had only two MPs in the entire country. When the BJP did not have support elsewhere, Telangana stood with us. Today, nearly half the MPs from Telangana belong to the BJP,” he said.
Expressing confidence in the party’s organisational strength in the state, the Prime Minister said he had complete faith in Telangana BJP workers and the people of the state that the party would emerge victorious in the next Assembly elections with a huge majority.
The Prime Minister reiterated that the BJP-led Central government remains fully committed to the development of Telangana and Hyderabad.
“Our effort is to ensure that Telangana and Hyderabad progress with the same speed as a developed India. This has been the continuous commitment of the Central government,” he said.
He referred to the development projects worth around ₹9,400 crore that he launched and inaugurated earlier in the day in Hyderabad, stating that these initiatives would strengthen infrastructure, connectivity, and economic growth in the state.
PM Modi also launched a sharp attack on the Congress party, accusing it of making promises before elections and abandoning them after coming to power.
He cited examples of Congress-ruled states like Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka, alleging that the party had failed to fulfil its commitments there and was repeating the same pattern in Telangana.
“The Congress party has a habit of making false promises during elections and forgetting them after forming the government. Telangana is now witnessing the same situation,” he said.
The Prime Minister further accused the Congress of adopting divisive politics and attempting to shield extremist ideologies even as Maoist influence in the country continues to decline.
“The Congress party’s priority is no longer public service. It has become a centre of divisive and hate-filled politics. Congress has become even more Left than the Left parties, and more aligned with extremist ideologies,” he alleged.
In one of the sharpest attacks during his speech, PM Modi claimed that people were now referring to the Congress as “MMC”, which he expanded as “Muslim League Maoist Congress”.
The remarks drew strong reactions and loud applause from BJP supporters present at the rally.
Several senior BJP leaders attended and addressed the public meeting, including Telangana BJP president Ramchander Rao, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and BJP MP K. Laxman.
The rally witnessed a large turnout of party workers and supporters from Hyderabad and surrounding districts, with BJP leaders projecting the event as a major show of strength ahead of future electoral battles in Telangana.
