Agriculture, Dairy and Cooperatives Will Strengthen Villages: CM Bhajanlal Sharma

Local Processing Units Will Increase Farmers’ Income; Improving Rural Living Standards is Government’s Goal

Ample Employment and Self-Employment Opportunities Being Created for Youth in Rajasthan, Says Chief Minister

Jaipur, May 2026: Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Sunday interacted with farmers and youth during the Gram Vikas Chaupal programme held at Kadel village in Pushkar. He said farmers should move beyond traditional farming methods and adopt modern and organic farming practices to enhance their income, while animal husbandry can further strengthen the financial condition of rural families.

The Chief Minister stated that stronger agriculture, dairy, and cooperative sectors would lead to prosperous villages.

As part of the programme, the Chief Minister spent the night in the village and held direct interactions with local residents, farmers, and youth. He also appealed to farmers to adopt organic farming practices during his interaction with progressive cultivators and Krishi Mitras.

Sharma said both the Central and State governments are providing financial assistance to farmers through various welfare schemes. He noted that farmers are receiving a bonus of ₹150 per quintal on wheat procurement in addition to the regular support schemes.

He added that livestock owners in the state are benefiting from the Gopal Credit Card Scheme and the Mangala Livestock Insurance Scheme. Mobile veterinary units have also been introduced for the treatment of animals, while the number of milk collection centres across the state is being expanded.

Under the Chief Minister Dairy Producer Support Scheme, the government is providing a subsidy of ₹5 per litre of milk, he said.

The Chief Minister urged farmers to take advantage of schemes offered by the Agriculture Department and adopt modern farming techniques. He also announced that the state government would organise the Global Rajasthan Agritech Meet from May 23 to 25 to promote innovation and technology in agriculture.

Highlighting the government’s focus on strengthening the cooperative sector, Sharma said new PACS (Primary Agricultural Credit Societies) are being established across the state.

He further stated that significant efforts are being made in rural areas for water conservation through the “Karmabhoomi Se Matrubhoomi” campaign.

The Chief Minister emphasized that adopting changes in the agriculture sector is extremely important. He said establishing local processing units based on region-specific agricultural produce would significantly improve the economic condition of farmers.

He also encouraged farmers to plant fruit-bearing trees alongside conventional crops to increase their income while simultaneously contributing to environmental conservation.

Sharma said prosperity in villages can only be achieved through the development of every section of society. He noted that the state government is providing loans to youth for self-employment opportunities at the local level.

He added that agreements signed under the Rising Rajasthan initiative are now being implemented on the ground, creating employment opportunities for the youth of the state.

The Chief Minister also mentioned that the government is providing subsidies for onion storage facilities, which would help farmers secure better prices for their produce.

Referring to recruitment reforms, Sharma said the government is conducting transparent recruitment examinations across the state. He pointed out that 13 youths from Kadel village alone had secured government jobs.

He also congratulated Kushal Chaudhary for securing the first rank in the RAS recruitment examination and bringing pride to the village. Kabaddi player Vijay Singh was also felicitated for winning medals in sports competitions.

Following the programme, the Chief Minister visited the residence of Ladu Meghwal, a resident of Kadel village, where he had dinner and interacted warmly with the family members.

Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Bhagirath Choudhary, Water Resources Minister Suresh Singh Rawat, Rajasthan State Farmers Commission Chairman C.R. Chaudhary, Rajasthan Heritage Authority Chairman Omkar Singh Lakhawat, MLAs Anita Bhadel, Ramswaroop Lamba, and Shankar Singh Rawat, along with local representatives, officials, and a large number of villagers, were present on the occasion.

Progressive Farmers and Youth Share Their Experiences

Farmer Girdhari said he has fully adopted organic farming and benefited from Agriculture Department schemes such as fencing and drip irrigation. He appealed to fellow farmers to reduce dependency on DAP and urea for better crop production.

Farmer Chhotu Singh shared that after water levels declined in his tube well, he consulted the Agriculture Department and adopted sprinkler irrigation, which helped him successfully cultivate roses and increase his income. He also thanked the Prime Minister and Chief Minister for the benefits received under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.

Solar pump beneficiary Ajit Singh said he installed a solar pump for his borewell with the assistance of the Agriculture Department, reducing electricity costs and enabling convenient irrigation.

RAS topper Kushal Chaudhary thanked the Chief Minister for constituting a Special Investigation Team (SIT), stating that it strengthened public trust in transparent recruitment examinations.

Monika, Shakti, and Kuldeep, who were selected in assistant staff recruitment, said the government had understood the concerns of youth and ensured fair and transparent recruitment processes in the state.
