Illegal House Sheltering TCS Conversion Case Accused Faces Demolition in Maharashtra

Mumbai, May 2026 : The house where Nida Khan, one of the key accused in the alleged TCS religious conversion case, had reportedly taken shelter for more than a month is likely to face demolition action within the next couple of days, Maharashtra Minister Sanjay Shirsat said on Monday.

Nida Khan, an employee associated with the Nashik unit of Tata Consultancy Services, had been absconding for several weeks after the alleged forced religious conversion case surfaced and triggered widespread political and public reactions across the country. She was recently arrested by the Nashik Police from a residence allegedly owned by an AIMIM corporator.

Speaking to reporters, Shirsat described the matter as “extremely serious” and said that providing shelter to a wanted accused for more than 35 to 40 days amounted to direct complicity in the case. He alleged that the AIMIM corporator knowingly protected Khan despite being aware of the charges against her.

The minister further stated that the residence in question was constructed illegally and that demolition proceedings had already been initiated by the local municipal authorities. According to him, the corporator failed to provide valid ownership and construction-related documents when asked by the Municipal Corporation.

“The Municipal Corporation has already issued a three-day notice. The structure will certainly face demolition action,” Shirsat said.

Police officials had arrested Nida Khan from the residence of Mateen Patel two days ago after tracking her movements for several days. She had allegedly remained underground since the controversy surrounding the conversion case emerged. Following her arrest, the Nashik Police also named the AIMIM corporator as an accused for allegedly harbouring and assisting her while she was evading arrest.

The case has since taken a political turn, with Asaduddin Owaisi publicly defending Khan and questioning the allegations against her. Owaisi claimed that Khan was being unfairly targeted because of her religious identity and accused sections of the media of conducting a “media trial” before the legal process had concluded.

He also rejected claims that Khan played a central role in any organised conversion racket within the IT company and argued that the accusations against her lacked substantial evidence.

Responding sharply to Owaisi’s remarks, Shirsat accused the AIMIM leadership of encouraging “radical and extremist” tendencies for political gains. He also backed controversial comments made earlier by Maharashtra minister Nitesh Rane against the AIMIM chief.

The controversy surrounding the alleged conversion case, the arrest of the accused, and the proposed demolition action has intensified political tensions in Maharashtra, with both the ruling alliance and opposition parties trading sharp accusations over the issue.
