Lucknow, May 2026 : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath appealed to the people of the state to join the Prime Minister’s call. He urged citizens to reduce fuel consumption and avoid unnecessary purchases of gold. He appealed for the practical implementation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call across the state.
During a meeting with the Chief Secretary, DGP, and all Additional Chief Secretaries and Principal Secretaries of various departments, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed that the fleets of the Chief Minister, ministers and others be immediately reduced by 50 percent. He instructed that unnecessary vehicles be removed from official convoys.
The Chief Minister also appealed for prioritizing the work-from-home culture in the state. He laid special emphasis on the use of PNG, Metro services, public transport and buses operated by the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation.
He stressed that official meetings, seminars, conferences and workshops should be organized virtually as much as possible.
Considering the global situation, the Chief Minister urged the people of the state to align with the Prime Minister’s appeal.
He said, “The world is witnessing instability and everyone must exercise caution.” He added that states should remain prepared to implement the Prime Minister’s appeal effectively.
The Chief Minister said, “Ministers, MPs, MLAs and public representatives should use public transport at least one day a week. A ‘No Vehicle Day’ should also be organized once every week. Government employees, students of schools and colleges, and various sections of society should also be associated with this campaign.”
The Industrial Development Department and IIDC have been asked to encourage industrial institutions and large startups to adopt work-from-home arrangements.
He added, “In workplaces with a large workforce, a state-level advisory should be issued recommending work-from-home for two days a week. Seminars, meetings and workshops of the Education Department, along with other official meetings, should also be conducted virtually. Fifty percent of internal meetings at the State Secretariat and Directorates should also be held virtually.”
The Chief Minister said, “Schools and colleges should encourage the use of school buses, and if required, Transport Corporation buses may also be linked with schools. To reduce fuel consumption during peak hours, office timings may be divided into different batches.”
The Chief Minister emphasized the use of public transport, cycling, carpooling and electric vehicles. He said, “In cities where Metro services are operational, people should make maximum use of them. Public transport services, including buses, should be increased on high-demand routes.”
The Chief Minister also appealed to the people of the state to conserve electricity. He said, “Unnecessary use of electricity should be avoided in government buildings, homes and private establishments. Decorative lighting in private establishments and commercial complexes should be minimized after 10 PM.”
The Chief Minister stressed promoting public bicycle-sharing schemes. He also urged people to avoid non-essential foreign travel for the next six months.
The CM appealed to citizens and wedding planners to organize events within the country. He said, “Uttar Pradesh also has several excellent destinations, including heritage sites, eco-tourism spots and forts, which should be promoted for destination weddings.”
He directed the launch of a ‘Visit My State’ campaign to promote wellness, eco, rural, wildlife and cuisine-based tourism. Uttar Pradesh is the first state to implement the ‘One District, One Cuisine’ initiative. The CM also directed that museums and memorials be made free for visitors for a certain period.
The Tourism Department has been directed to hold meetings with hotels, airlines, tour operators and travel agents and issue necessary instructions. He said, “Non-Resident Indians from Uttar Pradesh living across the world should be encouraged to visit the state. Shopping festivals, heritage tours, visits to gaushalas and temples should be promoted. The use of products made by local artisans, self-help groups and local entrepreneurs should also be encouraged. Indian-made gifts, products and handicrafts should be promoted during festivals, weddings and other events. The state government should present ODOP and GI-tagged products as gifts. Indigenous products should be encouraged.”
The Chief Minister appealed to the people of the state to reduce the use of edible oil. He said, “This step is necessary for better health, household savings and reducing import dependence. Awareness campaigns should be conducted through cultural and theatrical programs.”
The Health Department has been directed to organize nutrition awareness camps and ensure wide publicity regarding the campaign. Schools, colleges, district hospitals, private hospitals, medical colleges, government canteens, mid-day meal programs, jails, hostels and police mess facilities should all emphasize reduced use of oil in food preparation.
At the local level, administrative officials should coordinate with unions of hotels, sweet shops, restaurants, dhabas and street food vendors to promote low-oil food items.
The CM directed the Agriculture Department to promote natural farming. He said, “The state’s gaushalas house around 1.4 to 1.5 million cattle, and their cow dung should also be utilized effectively.” He also laid special emphasis on the farmer registry.
The CM urged people to avoid unnecessary gold purchases. He said, “The administration should hold meetings with local jewellers’ associations and traders to address their concerns.”
He directed that the PNG network in the state be expanded in mission mode and efforts be made to increase connections. Meetings should also be held with city gas distribution companies.
The PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana should also be promoted, and people should be encouraged to adopt rooftop solar systems.
