Suratgarh Power Plant’s 2×660 MW Units Deliver Best-Ever Performance
Jaipur, May 2026 : The 2×660 MW supercritical units (Unit 7 and Unit 8) of Rajasthan Vidyut Utpadan Nigam’s Suratgarh Thermal Power Plant have recorded their best-ever performance in the final quarter of the financial year 2025–26.
Energy Minister Shri Heeralal Nagar congratulated the Energy Department and the management of the generation company, stating that the 1320 MW supercritical units at Suratgarh Thermal Power Station began commercial production on December 1, 2020, and October 7, 2021, respectively. He noted that while the units initially faced several technical issues, continuous corrective efforts successfully resolved them over time.
As a result of these sustained improvements, both units achieved their highest-ever operational performance during the fourth quarter (January to March 2026) of FY 2025–26.
Energy Secretary Smt. Aarti Dogra also appreciated the engineers and staff of the generation corporation and extended her best wishes. She said that during the fourth quarter, the Suratgarh plant achieved 95.46% availability from both supercritical units. This performance significantly contributed to meeting the rising electricity demand in the state in coordination with the State Load Despatch Centre (SLDC).
She further highlighted that specific oil consumption in these supercritical units remained below prescribed norms, enabling cheaper power generation and benefiting consumers through reduced costs.
Chairman and Managing Director of Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam, Shri Devendra Shringi, encouraged all officers and employees to continue delivering similar outstanding performance across all power units in the future.
