United States Reaffirms In Providing $100 Million Direct Assistance To Cuba If the Regime Permits.

Washington Dc; May 2026: Today (14th May 2026; IST) the US Department of State has publicly reaffirmed the United States’ generous offer to provide an additional $100 million in direct humanitarian assistance to the Cuban people that would be distributed in coordination with the Catholic Church and other reliable independent humanitarian organizations. The decision rests with the Cuban regime to accept our offer of assistance or deny critical living-saving aid and ultimately be accountable to the Cuban people for standing in the way of critical assistance.

The United States continues to seek meaningful reforms to Cuba’s communist system, which has only served to enrich the elites and condemn the Cuban people to poverty. As U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said, the United States has also made numerous private offers to the Cuban regime to provide generous assistance to the Cuban people, including support for free and fast satellite internet and $100 million in direct humanitarian assistance. The regime refuses to allow the United States to provide this assistance to the Cuban people, who are in desperate need of assistance due to the failures of Cuba’s corrupt regime.

It is noteworthy that on the 08th of May, immediately after his trip to the Vatican City, and subsequent meeting with the Holy Father Pope Leo IV, US Secretary Marco Rubio had asserted the media reporters, published in Maverick News 30 – that the Catholic Church is instrumental in delivering humanitarian aid to Cuba. The United States have earlier provided $6 million of humanitarian aid, that was distributed by Caritas, the Catholic Church agency. The US is prepared to do more. In fact, US has offered the regime there $100 million of humanitarian aid that, unfortunately, so far, they have not agreed to distribute to the people in Cuba. It is noteworthy that the United States have conducted the hurricane relief, alongside they are willingly offering more, and it’s the regime that’s not accepting it, it’s the regime that’s standing in the way of it. In his discussions with the Pope, Marco Rubio had assured him to help the people of Cuba, who are being hurt by this incompetent regime that’s destroyed the country and the economy.

The recently imposed sanctions on Cuba had stirred controversies, but Marco Rubio had asserted that the sanction was on one company named GRUPO DE ADMINISTRACION EMPRESARIAL S.A. (GAESA), which is a holding company set up by generals in Cuba that has generated billions of dollars of revenue, none of which benefits the Cuban people. Not one cent of it benefits the Cuban people. The company (GAESA) being a private one exhibits more money than the government does. None of the money in that company are spent in building roads, bridges, or in providing foodgrains to a single Cuban, other than the employees (mainly serving in a senior position) those are part of GAESA.

Alongside the company, the US authorities have also sanctioned its Executive President Ania Guillermina Lastres Morera (LASTRES), responsible for the management of GAESA’s illicit assets held internationally.
