RCB Smash Record 254/5 Against Gujarat Titans in IPL Knockout; Patidar’s 93 Powers Historic Total*

Delhi, May 2026 : Royal Challengers Bengaluru produced a sensational batting display in the IPL playoff clash, piling up a massive 254 for 5 in 20 overs against Gujarat Titans at Delhi on Tuesday, registering the highest total ever in IPL knockout history.

After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Gujarat Titans failed to contain the explosive RCB batting line-up as the innings turned into a one-sided run-fest from the start. Skipper Rajat Patidar led from the front with a breathtaking unbeaten 93 off just 33 deliveries, anchoring and accelerating the innings with remarkable control and power.

Patidar’s knock included 5 fours and 9 towering sixes as he dismantled the Gujarat bowling attack, particularly targeting the death overs. He showed exceptional dominance against pacer Prasidh Krishna, repeatedly clearing the boundary with ease and shifting the momentum firmly in RCB’s favour.

RCB’s top and middle order also played crucial supporting roles. Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal and Krunal Pandya provided a solid platform with quick contributions that kept the scoreboard moving at a rapid pace. Their early aggression ensured that RCB never fell behind in the scoring rate despite losing occasional wickets.

The final phase of the innings proved decisive, with RCB smashing 86 runs in the last five overs alone, completely breaking Gujarat Titans’ bowling rhythm. Jitesh Sharma added the finishing flourish with a quickfire 15 off just 5 balls, further boosting the already imposing total.

Gujarat Titans’ bowling attack had a difficult outing throughout the innings. Prasidh Krishna conceded 53 runs in his four overs while managing to pick up one wicket. Mohammed Siraj also proved expensive, giving away 46 runs in his three overs as RCB batters capitalised on every scoring opportunity.

The Titans struggled to maintain control in the death overs, failing to execute yorkers and variations effectively against the onslaught of RCB hitters. Their inability to contain boundaries in the final overs proved costly as the target ballooned to an intimidating 255 runs.

With this massive total, Gujarat Titans now face a steep challenge, needing 255 runs to secure a place in the final. The pressure is firmly on their batting lineup as they prepare for one of the most demanding chases in IPL knockout history.

RCB’s commanding performance has not only set a new benchmark in playoff cricket but has also given them a significant psychological advantage heading into the second innings of this high-stakes encounter.
