CM Rekha Gupta directs all departments to complete Budget announcements within stipulated timelines

New Delhi, May 2026 : Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta on Wednesday held an important review meeting with senior officials and heads of departments through video conferencing. The virtual meeting, organised in view of the Work From Home arrangement, included a detailed review of the progress of Budget announcements, development works and public welfare schemes of the Delhi Government. The Chief Minister issued strict directions to ensure that these schemes are completed within stipulated timelines. She said no negligence in public welfare works would be tolerated.
During the review meeting held at the Jan Seva Sadan, CM Rekha Gupta gave clear instructions to all departments to immediately speed up work for implementing schemes announced in the Budget on the ground within fixed timelines. She said the government’s priority is not limited to making announcements, but to ensure that every scheme reaches its final outcome. Warning officials, she said departments that fail to properly utilise Budget allocations for schemes could face a reduction in funds in the next Budget.
The meeting also included detailed discussions on monsoon preparedness. The Chief Minister directed the concerned departments to ensure that the cleaning and desilting of all small and large drains across the capital is completed before the rains begin. She said preventing waterlogging remains among the government’s highest priorities and no laxity in this regard would be accepted. On environmental protection and pollution control, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said large-scale plantation or grass-cover drives should be undertaken at places facing dust pollution or lying vacant. She stressed better coordination among different agencies to make the capital cleaner and greener.
The Chief Minister also reviewed infrastructure related to education and instructed the concerned departments to ensure timely whitewashing of government schools, repair of toilets and proper arrangements for clean drinking water for children. She said providing students with a better and dignified environment is the responsibility of the government. Keeping the present situation in mind, the Chief Minister appealed to officers and employees to seriously follow the Metro Monday and Work From Home arrangements. She said this would help save fuel, reduce traffic pressure and support pollution control.
The Chief Minister also directed departments to accelerate schemes related to solar power and water conservation. She said all departments should work in coordination to make Delhi a model city in the fields of energy conservation and water management. She further instructed officials that social media should not remain limited to formal communication, but should also be used as an effective medium for promoting public welfare schemes and ensuring that accurate information reaches the public. All departments were directed to regularly share updates regarding their schemes and achievements.
The Chief Minister said every department should regularly review its schemes and continuously update progress reports. She directed officials to upload information related to pending and important projects on the PM Pragati Portal in a timely manner so that development works can be monitored effectively. The meeting also reviewed biometric attendance in various departments, grievance redressal, plantation drives, onboarding of employees on the iGOT platform and the progress of various development projects. The Chief Minister asked all departments to work in coordination and ensure results within the prescribed timelines.
