PM Modi Receives Warm Welcome from Indian Diaspora in Nice

Nice, June 2026 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a grand and enthusiastic welcome from the Indian diaspora upon his arrival in Nice, France, on Saturday as chants of “Modi, Modi” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” echoed through the gathering, highlighting the strong bond between overseas Indians and their homeland.

Members of the Indian community turned out in large numbers to greet the Prime Minister, showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage through vibrant performances of classical dance forms including Kathak, Odissi and Bharatanatyam. The colourful reception reflected the enthusiasm and pride of the diaspora ahead of PM Modi’s engagements in France.

Sharing his appreciation on social media platform X, the Prime Minister said, “A memorable welcome from the Indian community in Nice. Though they may be several kilometres away from home, the bond of our diaspora with India remains as strong as ever.”

Upon his arrival at the airport, PM Modi was received by several French and Indian dignitaries. Among those present were French Minister for Higher Education, Research and Space Philippe Baptiste, Secretary General of the Alpes-Maritimes Prefecture Patrick Amoussou-Adeble, French Ambassador to India Thierry Mathou, and the Mayor of Nice, Eric Ciotti. India’s Ambassador to France, Sanjeev Singla, also welcomed the Prime Minister.

PM Modi’s arrival in Nice marks the beginning of his two-nation visit aimed at strengthening India’s ties with key global partners. The visit includes engagements in Nice, Evian and Paris, with a focus on bilateral cooperation, innovation, technology and international diplomacy.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said, “I have just landed in Nice. Beyond Nice, this visit to France includes programmes in Evian and Paris. It will be marked by bilateral and multilateral meetings, aimed at strengthening India’s bonds of friendship with its key development partners.”

He added that he was looking forward to meeting French President Emmanuel Macron and participating in the “Bharat Innovates 2026” event.

On Sunday, PM Modi and President Macron are scheduled to jointly inaugurate Bharat Innovates 2026, a flagship event being held during the India-France Year of Innovation. The programme will bring together startups, investors and technology leaders from India, France and several other countries to promote innovation-driven partnerships.

The Prime Minister will also hold bilateral talks with President Macron to review the full spectrum of India-France relations, including cooperation in science and technology, trade, defence, culture and people-to-people exchanges.

Following his engagements in Nice, PM Modi will travel to Evian to participate in the G7 Summit on June 16-17 at the invitation of President Macron. India’s participation in the summit underscores its growing global influence and its role in addressing key international challenges alongside leading economies.
