Naidu pitches Amaravati as global investment hub, invites Singapore firms to shape future-ready capital

Amaravati, June 2026 : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday invited investors and businesses in Singapore to participate in the development of Amaravati, describing the upcoming capital city as a world-class urban centre built on the principles of sustainability, technology and human-centric growth.

On the second day of his visit to Singapore, Naidu participated in the Leadership Plenary-2 session of the World Cities Summit, where he addressed the theme, “Can Smart Cities Love Humans?” In his address, the Chief Minister emphasized that cities should be designed around people and their aspirations rather than merely around infrastructure.

“I have always believed that cities must be built around people and their dreams. Vision, planning and the right ecosystem can create opportunities for millions,” he said.

Naidu explained that Amaravati is being developed as a city that balances economic growth with quality of life, ensuring that development translates into prosperity for all sections of society. According to him, the city’s planning is rooted in the principles of livability, sustainability and inclusiveness.

He described Amaravati as a “People’s Capital” and a future-ready global city that harmonizes urban development with nature. The city, taking shape along a 21-kilometre stretch of the Krishna River, is envisioned as a vibrant waterfront destination featuring world-class infrastructure and modern urban amenities.

The Chief Minister said the capital will include inner and outer ring roads, iconic bridges, underground utilities, green energy systems and extensive cycling and walking tracks. A greenfield airport is also planned as part of the city’s integrated transport network.

Highlighting Amaravati’s vision as a knowledge-driven economy, Naidu said the city is being developed into a “Knowledge City,” with several national and international educational institutions already establishing campuses there. He added that advanced technologies such as quantum computing and cutting-edge digital infrastructure would make Amaravati unique among emerging cities globally.

The capital’s development is being organised around multiple thematic zones, including finance, sports, education, justice, healthcare, tourism and media. The city is also pursuing a net-zero emissions goal, underscoring its commitment to environmental sustainability.

One of Amaravati’s most distinctive features, according to Naidu, is its land pooling model. He noted that around 35,000 acres of land were voluntarily contributed by farmers for the development of the capital. Once developed, a portion of the land will be returned to them as serviced plots, creating wealth for local communities while facilitating urban expansion.

Reflecting on his earlier role in shaping the IT revolution, Naidu recalled how the development of Cyberabad transformed the economic landscape of the region. He said the value of land in Cyberabad had increased from around Rs 2 lakh per acre to nearly Rs 200 crore per acre, demonstrating how strategic urban planning can generate long-term prosperity.

The Chief Minister noted that the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh gave him another opportunity to build a modern city from scratch, much like his earlier efforts in Hyderabad.

Later, addressing the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Partnership Summit Roadshow, Naidu urged Singaporean companies to make Andhra Pradesh their preferred investment destination.

He highlighted the state’s investor-friendly policies, abundant resources and efficient governance systems, describing Andhra Pradesh as a model state for economic growth. He also underscored the long-standing relationship between Singapore and Andhra Pradesh, recalling Singapore’s role in Hyderabad’s development and its contribution to preparing Amaravati’s master plan.

“Singapore has designed a remarkable blue-green capital city plan for Amaravati. We continue to work closely on urban development and infrastructure initiatives. I invite Singaporean entrepreneurs to make Andhra Pradesh and Amaravati their second home,” he said.

Naidu also highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s “Speed of Doing Business” model, which provides rapid approvals and seamless project execution. Citing examples, he said global steel giant ArcelorMittal had received approvals in record time and is expected to begin production and exports from the state by 2028.

The Chief Minister further announced that a Google Cloud AI Data Hub is being established in Andhra Pradesh using green energy. Nearly 10 GW of data centre capacity is currently under development by various companies in the state.

He also unveiled plans for an Operational Skill University aimed at creating industry-ready talent and emphasized the government’s growing reliance on data-driven governance and technology-enabled decision-making to improve public services and economic outcomes.

As Andhra Pradesh seeks to position itself as a global investment destination, Amaravati is emerging as the centrepiece of the state’s vision for sustainable growth, innovation and inclusive development.
