Journey from Darri village to become a manager in Tata Steel

Coming from a small village and studying engineering and from there getting admission in IIT Dhanbad and then getting the prestigious position of manager in Tata Steel is like a dream for any child of a labourer’s family. The child of a labourer’s family has shown the passion to turn this dream into reality.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai felicitated the promising youth of a labourer family, Shri Pankaj Sahu and his family for this splendid success and wished them a bright future at the state level labour conference organized in the capital Raipur today on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti. At present, Shri Pankaj Sahu is working as a manager in Tata Steel Company located in Odisha.

Pankaj Sahu, who belongs to Darri (Kharenga) of Dhamtari district, his father was employed in a private shop in Dhamtari and his mother Mrs. Gyanbati Sahu worked as a labourer. He did his primary education in village Kharenga itself. After schooling, he completed his engineering from Government Engineering College Jagdalpur (Bastar) and after this, he took admission for M Tech in IT Dhanbad by taking advantage of the Medhavi Shiksha Protsahan Yojana, which is being run by the Labor Department for the education of meritorious students, and completed his M Tech in two years in Dhanbad.
Mr. Pankaj Sahu told that he got a gold medal in M ​​Tech studies. He got placement from Vedanta Resources and currently he is working as a manager in Odisha Tata Steel Company on an annual package of Rs 18 lakh. Expressing gratitude to the state government for the Medhavi Shiksha Protsahan Yojana, Pankaj Sahu said that this scheme has made the path of higher education easy for a child from a poor family like us.
