Siaha to Launch ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ Campaign
Siaha : The nationwide cleanliness initiative ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ was officially launched in Siaha District by District Commissioner Pisa. The event was presided over by SDO (S) and UDPA under the DAY-NULM program, led by Pu Vanlalchhuanliana.
Additional DC Pu Abraham Beirazi Khithie outlined the planned activities under the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, emphasizing that its success depends on community involvement. He stressed the need for households to maintain cleanliness, underscoring that cleanliness within families is essential for creating cleaner communities. Highlighting the importance of the campaign, he noted the participation of sanitation workers and community members in cleanliness drives, while emphasizing the role of educational institutions in encouraging young people to lead by example. He called on everyone to make cleanliness a daily habit for a healthier and more productive life.
Sr. LAO, LAD, MADC Pi S Lalmuanpuii also addressed the gathering, stating that the campaign is inclusive and everyone should take part. She emphasized that cleanliness should not be a one-time event but a continuous effort. Whether at school or on the streets, cleanliness is crucial for health, and everyone should learn the importance of maintaining hygiene. She encouraged the people of Siaha to embrace this initiative, as cleanliness not only boosts confidence but also helps foster a more orderly and healthy community.
The Swachhata Hi Seva launch event was a zero-waste event, with Sanitation Officer Pu Henry PL Hnaihly administering the Swachhata Pledge to both officials and students in attendance.
Following the launch, students and officials organized a cleanliness drive, clearing waste from DC Office to Siaha Traffic Point, urging the public to actively engage in maintaining cleanliness. As outlined, Swachhata Hi Seva is a government-led initiative aimed at promoting cleanliness across the country. The campaign will run for two weeks, concluding with a major event on October 2, 2024.
