Revised Schedule Announced for Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls

Draft Electoral Roll on August 17; Final Roll to be Published on October 19

Mumbai, July 2026: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced a revised schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Maharashtra. The decision follows a request from the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Maharashtra, seeking an extension in view of the recent heavy rainfall that affected various parts of the state.

According to the revised programme, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct a door-to-door verification and household survey from June 30 to August 8, 2026. During the same period, the rationalisation and reorganisation of polling stations will also be completed by August 8.

The draft electoral roll will be published on Monday, August 17, 2026. Citizens will be able to submit claims and objections regarding the electoral roll between August 17 and September 16, 2026.

The process of issuing notices, conducting hearings, and disposing of claims and objections will be carried out between August 17 and September 15, 2026, ensuring that all eligible requests are examined before the finalisation of the voter list.

The final electoral roll will be published on Monday, October 19, 2026.

Appealing to eligible citizens, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Manohar Parkar urged all voters to cooperate with the election authorities by submitting the prescribed enumeration forms within the stipulated timeframe to ensure that their names are included in the electoral rolls.

The Election Commission reiterated that the Special Intensive Revision is aimed at maintaining an accurate, updated and inclusive electoral roll ahead of future elections, while ensuring that every eligible citizen gets an opportunity to exercise their democratic right to vote.
