Five-Day Basic Commissioner Course Concludes at National Training Centre, Darjeeling
41 Officials from Chhattisgarh Participate; Leadership and Organisational Skills Strengthened
Raipur, July 2026 : A five-day Basic Commissioner Course organised under the aegis of the Bharat Scouts and Guides National Headquarters concluded successfully at the National Training Centre, Kurseong (Darjeeling, West Bengal). The programme was held from July 10 to July 14, 2026, with participation from 41 officials from Chhattisgarh, including State Chief Commissioner Inderjeet Singh Khalsa, District Chief Commissioners, Assistant District Chief Commissioners, and other office-bearers.
Leadership and Organisational Excellence Enhanced
The primary objective of the training programme was to strengthen the leadership capabilities, organisational efficiency, training management skills, and effective implementation of Scout and Guide activities among Commissioners.
Throughout the five-day course, participants underwent intensive theoretical and practical sessions focusing on leadership, discipline, teamwork, decision-making, communication, and service-oriented values. Special emphasis was placed on developing the competencies required to manage scouting programmes efficiently while fostering a spirit of responsibility and community service.
The curriculum covered a broad range of subjects, including the principles of Scouting, organisational administration, programme planning, communication skills, problem-solving, teamwork, and volunteer service. Each session was designed to be interactive and practical, enabling participants to enhance both their personal leadership qualities and professional organisational skills.
Training Will Provide a New Direction: Inderjeet Singh Khalsa
Speaking after the completion of the programme, State Chief Commissioner Inderjeet Singh Khalsa described the training as highly valuable and inspiring.
He said the course had deepened his understanding of the Scouting movement while significantly improving his leadership abilities, confidence, and organisational competence.
Khalsa expressed confidence that the knowledge and experience gained during the programme would be effectively utilised to give fresh momentum and direction to Scouting activities across Chhattisgarh, helping strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level.
Participants Appreciate the Programme
During the valedictory session, participants praised the trainers for their simple, practical, and motivating approach to instruction. They stated that the knowledge and skills acquired during the programme would help them make Scouting activities in their respective districts more effective, disciplined, and service-oriented.
The participants also emphasised the need for organising such capacity-building programmes on a regular basis to ensure continuous learning, stronger leadership, and improved organisational performance within the Bharat Scouts and Guides movement.
The training programme was conducted under the guidance of Camp Director Ashok Deshmukh, Assistant Training Directors Dr Poonam Singh Sahu and Sarita Pandey, and National Observer S.S. Rai, along with the participation of all 41 officials from Chhattisgarh.
The successful completion of the course is expected to further strengthen the leadership framework of the Bharat Scouts and Guides in Chhattisgarh and contribute to the expansion of youth development and community service initiatives across the state.
