‘Mauli’ Musical Play to Celebrate the Life and Legacy of Sant Dnyaneshwar on His 750th Birth Anniversary

Mumbai, July 2026 : To commemorate the 750th birth anniversary of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj, the Directorate of Cultural Affairs, under the Maharashtra Government’s Department of Cultural Affairs, will present a special spiritual and cultural programme titled ‘Mauli’ on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 8 p.m. at Shri Shivaji Natya Mandir, Dadar, Mumbai.

The highlight of the event will be a musical theatrical production depicting the inspiring life, teachings, and spiritual journey of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj.

Sant Dnyaneshwar is revered for spreading the timeless values of equality, humanity, universal brotherhood, and devotion through his profound spiritual wisdom. His literary masterpieces, including the Dnyaneshwari, Amrutanubhav, and Pasaydan, continue to guide generations with their philosophical depth and message of compassion. His immortal prayer, “Duritanche Timir Javo” (May the darkness of suffering disappear), remains a universal call for peace and the welfare of humanity.

The ‘Mauli’ production will bring to life several significant episodes from Sant Dnyaneshwar’s extraordinary life through a captivating blend of music, drama, dance, and theatrical storytelling. The performance will showcase his spiritual journey, his devotion, his efforts toward social reform, and his enduring message of compassion and human unity.

The programme aims to introduce younger generations to Maharashtra’s rich saint tradition while celebrating the state’s cultural and spiritual heritage through an engaging artistic presentation.

The event has been conceptualised by Minister for Cultural Affairs, Electronics, Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence, Adv. Ashish Shelar, and is being organised under the guidance of Dr. Kiran Kulkarni, Secretary, Department of Cultural Affairs.

The Department of Cultural Affairs has been consistently organising initiatives to preserve and promote Maharashtra’s rich cultural legacy, spiritual traditions, and the invaluable contributions of its revered saints.

Entry to the programme is free of cost, offering devotees, art lovers, students, researchers, Warkaris, and the general public a unique opportunity to experience the life and timeless teachings of Sant Dnyaneshwar through an immersive musical performance.

Director of the Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Shriram Pandey, has appealed to citizens to attend the programme in large numbers and become part of this special celebration honouring one of Maharashtra’s greatest spiritual icons.
