India Post Invites Citizens to Design Official Mascot, Announces Rs 2 Lakh Prize Pool
New Delhi, July 2026 : The Department of Posts has launched the ‘India Post Mascot Design Contest’ on the Innovate India MyGov platform, inviting citizens from across the country to create the official mascot for India Post. The nationwide competition offers a total prize pool of Rs 2 lakh and aims to develop a unique visual identity that represents one of India’s oldest and most trusted public service institutions.
According to the Ministry of Communications, the initiative seeks to create a mascot that reflects the core values of India Post, including trust, reliability, inclusivity, public service, and digital innovation. The selected mascot will serve as the official brand ambassador of India Post and will play a key role in strengthening its public outreach and modern brand image.
The contest is open to all Indian citizens. Participants are required to submit an original mascot design, suggest a suitable name for the mascot, and provide a brief concept note explaining the idea behind their creation. Entries can be submitted online through the MyGov platform between July 15 and August 15.
To encourage widespread participation, the government has announced attractive cash prizes for both the mascot design and naming categories. The top three mascot designs will receive prizes of Rs 75,000, Rs 50,000, and Rs 25,000, respectively. In addition, the best three mascot names will be awarded Rs 25,000, Rs 15,000, and Rs 10,000. The total prize money for the competition stands at Rs 2 lakh, with winners in both categories also receiving official certificates of recognition.
The Ministry clarified that the mascot design and mascot naming competitions will be evaluated independently, allowing participants to compete in either or both categories.
Once selected, the official India Post mascot will feature prominently across a wide range of communication platforms and promotional activities. These include advertising campaigns, philatelic products, exhibitions, public awareness programmes, social media initiatives, educational outreach, and other official branding exercises undertaken by the Department of Posts.
The government has encouraged students, artists, graphic designers, creative professionals, and innovators from across the country to participate in the contest and contribute to shaping the future visual identity of India Post.
The launch of the competition comes at a time when India Post is witnessing strong financial growth. The Department recently achieved a significant milestone by recording its highest-ever first-quarter revenue, crossing the Rs 4,000-crore mark for the first time. India Post reported a turnover of Rs 4,008.95 crore in the first quarter of FY 2026-27, reflecting its expanding role in logistics, financial services, e-commerce delivery, and digital public services.
Officials said the mascot initiative is part of broader efforts to modernise India Post’s image while preserving its legacy as one of the country’s most trusted public institutions. The contest is expected to generate innovative ideas that symbolise the department’s transformation into a modern, technology-driven service organisation while maintaining its longstanding commitment to serving citizens across every corner of India.
