Forest Minister Launches District-Level School Sports Competitions: Emphasizes the Importance of Sports for Physical and Mental Health

Jaipur : Minister of State for Forest and Environment (Independent Charge), Mr. Sanjay Sharma, on Tuesday inaugurated the 68th District-Level Student Gymnastics Competition at Diwakari, Alwar District Government Higher Secondary School, and the 68th District-Level Student Cricket Competition at Sophia Public School.

Addressing the athletes, Minister Sharma stated that the state government has offered many initiatives to support athletes in this year’s budget, aimed at providing them with better opportunities to excel. The “One District, One Sport” scheme is being implemented, under which academies for popular sports will be established in districts in a phased manner. To ensure adequate security for athletes, a sports life insurance scheme will be launched, providing category-wise accident and life insurance coverage of up to Rs. 25 lakhs for international medal winners.

He added that the state government will organize Rajasthan Youth Games with the goal of fostering a sports culture in the state and offering a platform for players to showcase their talent. He encouraged the athletes to participate actively. CDEO Shri Nekiram noted that 8 teams of girl students are participating in the district-level cricket competition, while 14 teams are competing in gymnastics.

Environmental Message through Tree Planting —
Along with Minister Sharma, local representatives planted saplings at Sophia Public School as part of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam Abhiyan” and “Hariyalo Rajasthan Abhiyan,” delivering a message of environmental conservation. He announced that 50 crore saplings will be planted in the region over the next 5 years to promote environmental protection.
