Gujarat Titans Post Massive 229 Against CSK After Explosive Batting Display

Ahmedabad, May 2026 : Gujarat Titans delivered a dominant batting performance to post a massive total of 229/4 in 20 overs against Chennai Super Kings in their IPL 2026 clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Thursday.

The Titans’ batting lineup fired collectively, with strong contributions from Sai Sudharsan, captain Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler, and Washington Sundar helping the team pile up a daunting score. Gujarat maintained an aggressive approach throughout the innings and accelerated further in the death overs to keep Chennai’s bowlers under constant pressure.

Sai Sudharsan laid the foundation with a brilliant knock of 84 runs, anchoring the innings with a combination of elegant stroke play and powerful hitting. Captain Shubman Gill complemented him perfectly with a quick-fire half-century as the opening pair gave Gujarat a flying start.

After the solid platform created by the top order, Jos Buttler ensured the momentum continued in the final overs. The England batter played a crucial finishing role, scoring rapidly and rotating strike effectively to maintain the high run rate.

Mukesh Choudhary bowled the final over for Chennai Super Kings, but Gujarat managed to score valuable runs even at the end. Buttler began the over with a boundary off the very first ball, placing additional pressure on the bowler.

Washington Sundar then joined the attack with an aggressive intent. He scored 7 runs from just three deliveries, including a powerful six. However, while attempting another big shot off the final ball of the innings, Sundar was caught by Urvil Patel, giving Mukesh Choudhary a late wicket.

Chennai Super Kings’ bowling unit struggled throughout the innings and appeared under pressure, especially during the final overs. The situation worsened when CSK were penalised for maintaining a slow over rate, forcing the team to keep an additional fielder inside the circle during the final over.

Gujarat Titans capitalised fully on the fielding restriction and continued attacking till the last ball to push the total close to the 230-mark.

With 230 runs required for victory, Chennai Super Kings now face a massive challenge in what has become a crucial contest for their playoff hopes.

Team Maverick.
