Employees’ State Insurance Scheme will be implemented in the entire state: Labor Minister Lakhanlal Dewangan.

To provide better medical facilities to Chhattisgarh workers, the Employees State Insurance Scheme will be implemented in the entire state. In the meeting of the Regional Council of Employees State Insurance Corporation chaired by Labor Minister Shri Lakhanlal Dewangan, many important decisions were taken, including starting a new 100-bed hospital in Bilaspur, upgrading the hospitals of Raipur and Korba to 100-bed hospitals and starting the hospitals of Lara and Kharsia soon.  

Workers will also get the facility of cashless referral from dispensaries to private hospitals directly contracted for treatment of serious diseases like cancer, kidney. The state government will soon provide land for a new 100-bed hospital in Bilaspur. For the convenience of insured persons and employers, a proposal to start a sub-regional office of the Employees State Insurance Corporation by combining the areas of Korba, Raigarh and Bilaspur has been approved in the meeting.

It has also been decided to increase the number of beds in Raipur and Korba hospitals from 50 to 100 within three months and to start hospitals in Lara and Kharsia by November. Instructions were given to start facilities like ward, maternity ward, X-ray, operation theatre and laboratory for admission of patients in 100-bed hospitals of Bhilai and Raigarh and to provide public transport facility for coming to hospitals in Korba and Raipur.

In the meeting, the officials informed that under the Covid Relief Scheme, claims of 386 insured persons were approved and an amount of Rs 16.21 crore was paid till March 2024. Similarly, Rs 33.04 crore has been paid in the year 2023-24 to the registered insured persons of industries and institutions on sickness benefit, pension on permanent disability, maternity leave, funeral expenses etc.

The meeting was attended by Vice-Chairman, Regional Council and Secretary, Labour Department, Mrs. Alarmelmangai D, Regional Director-in-Charge, Employees State Insurance Corporation, Mr. Mahendra Bhoi, Member Secretary, Regional Council, Dr. Rachita Biswas, Regional Insurance Commissioner, Ranchi (Eastern Region) and Members of Regional Council, Mr. Harish Kedia, D.K. Agarwal, L.P. Katkwar.
