Special Summary Revision Program-2025 — All Applications for Voter List Updates to be Processed, New Names to be Added: Shri Naveen Mahajan
Jaipur : In accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, draft voter lists will be published in all districts of Rajasthan on October 29 as part of the Special Summary Revision Program-2025. Chief Electoral Officer Shri Naveen Mahajan has instructed officials to expedite the process of updating the lists ahead of the draft publication. He emphasized the importance of adding new voters and directed that proposals for the reorganization or establishment of polling stations be submitted by October 6.
Shri Mahajan issued these instructions during a video conference with District Election Officers, Sub-District Election Officers, and Voter Registration Officers on Tuesday. He stressed the need for timely processing of applications received through various channels, including door-to-door surveys, for adding or deleting names, as well as updating unclear voter ID card photos.
The Chief Electoral Officer expressed concern over delays in processing applications in certain districts due to insufficient monitoring. He urged the District Election Officers in Banswara, Dungarpur, Jodhpur, Barmer, and other districts to promptly address pending tasks. He warned that any negligence by Block Level Officers (BLOs) or Registration Officers would result in appropriate action.
During the meeting, it was reported that, under the pre-revision activities for the Revision Program-2025, a total of 5.34 lakh voters have been verified across the state through 100% completion of door-to-door surveys by BLOs. More than 7.21 lakh applications for name additions have been received through various means, with Jaipur and Jodhpur receiving the highest numbers. Dausa district leads in application processing, followed by Tonk, Pratapgarh, and Bhilwara. However, Jaipur, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Sri Ganganagar, Barmer, and Sikar have the highest number of pending applications.
2.2 lakh voters found absent:
The presentation revealed that during the door-to-door survey, 2,20,860 voters were found absent from their registered addresses, 1,10,854 had moved to other locations, 1,51,147 were reported deceased, and 19,964 had duplicate registrations. Additionally, 1,01,879 applications were received for changing unclear voter ID photos.
No delay in printing and distribution of voter ID cards:
Shri Mahajan urged BLOs to focus on registering 18-year-olds in their areas by coordinating with educational institutions and coaching centers. He also directed that the printing and distribution of voter ID cards be expedited. If there is any delay, penalties will be imposed on the responsible printing firms as per regulations.
Final voter list publication on January 6:
As per instructions from the Election Commission of India, following the draft voter list publication on October 29, claims and objections will be invited from the public, voters, and political parties until November 28. The lists will be read out in Gram Sabhas in rural areas and Ward Sabhas in urban areas on November 9 and 23. BLOs will be available at their respective polling stations on November 10 and 24 to accept claims, objections, and new applications. After all proposals and applications are addressed, the final voter lists will be published on January 6.
