Tamil Nadu’s Industrial Growth Under CM M.K. Stalin

Since taking office, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru M.K. Stalin, has driven significant industrial growth in the state, leading to the continuous establishment of new factories. This has resulted in enhanced employment opportunities for the youth.

After the Dravidian model government came to power in 2021, efforts were intensified to attract industrial investments through investor conferences, aiming to make Tamil Nadu a trillion-dollar economy by 2030.

In the first phase, investor conferences were organized in cities like Chennai, Coimbatore, and Thoothukudi under the banner “Tamil Nadu – The First Address for Investors,” bringing in investments worth ₹1,90,803 crores and creating 2,80,600 jobs.

The second phase saw visits to the UAE, Singapore, Malaysia, and Japan, securing ₹7,441 crores in investments and generating 17,371 jobs.

In the third phase, during the ‘World Investors Conference’ at the Nandambakkam Trade Center in Chennai on January 7 and 8, 2024, investments worth ₹6,64,180 crores were secured through 631 agreements, generating 26,90,657 direct and indirect job opportunities.

In the fourth phase, CM Stalin’s visit to Spain on January 27, 2024, yielded MoUs worth ₹3,440 crores in investments. The Chief Minister invited Spanish companies to take advantage of Tamil Nadu’s industrial ecosystem and skilled workforce.

The fifth phase, on September 22, 2024, saw the Chief Minister visiting the USA to meet global investors. This trip resulted in 19 MoUs and created 11,516 jobs for Tamil youth.

Despite these achievements, opposition parties have attempted to spread misinformation and create dissent. As our leader, Muthamizh Arignar Kalaignar, wisely said, “Hiding the truth is akin to burying a seed in the ground.” These efforts to obscure the Dravidian model government’s accomplishments will not succeed, as the pride of this administration is recognized worldwide.

On August 21, 2024, the Chief Minister inaugurated 19 factories at an event organized by the Department of Industrial Investment Promotion and Trade in Chennai. These factories, representing an investment of ₹17,616 crores, include:

He also laid the foundation for Tata Motors’ vehicle manufacturing plant in Ranipet, with an investment of ₹9,000 crores, which will employ 5,000 youth.

Comparison with the Previous Government
Between 2016 and 2021, the previous administration only managed to open 21 factories, with MoUs worth ₹15,543 crores and jobs for 10,316 youth, of which only 12 factories started production. In contrast, the Dravidian model government has, in just three years, attracted investments worth ₹9.74 lakh crores, with 27 factories providing jobs for 31 lakh youth. A total of 46 new factories have already been inaugurated.

Union Ministry of Statistics’ Recognition of Tamil Nadu’s Growth
A recent report from the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation has recognized Tamil Nadu’s industrial strength, noting a 7.5% increase in employment in the manufacturing sector. Tamil Nadu holds the top spot in the country for the number of factories and job opportunities.
