No Person with Disabilities Left Out of Public Welfare Schemes: Minister of State for Industries and Commerce

Jaipur : No person with disabilities should be excluded from public welfare schemes, emphasized Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Shri K.K. Vishnoi, during the Disability Assistive Device Distribution Program held at Adarsh Stadium, Barmer District Headquarters, on Monday. He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Bhajan Lal have introduced numerous schemes aimed at empowering people with disabilities. The Barmer district administration has taken commendable steps in implementing these schemes on the ground, ensuring that individuals with disabilities receive support and happiness ahead of Diwali.

The Minister highlighted the state government’s commitment to empowering people with disabilities and enabling them to lead dignified lives. He praised the Barmer district’s efforts as a model for other regions, aiming for a comprehensive reach of welfare schemes to all persons with disabilities in the state. He also announced that with the introduction of a new web portal, individuals can now access government services online from their homes, further simplifying the process.

At the event, Minister K.K. Vishnoi, along with Shiv MLA Ravindrasinh Bhati, District Collector Tina Dabi, and other dignitaries, distributed assistive devices, including 112 tricycles, 47 wheelchairs, 34 hearing aids, 138 crutches, and 27 walking sticks for the visually impaired.

District Collector Tina Dabi mentioned that in October, the Barmer district administration organized disability camps at the sub-division level to ensure access to public welfare schemes. A medical board was established to facilitate the process, benefiting over 2,031 registered individuals. Additionally, an audit was conducted to assess the accessibility of government offices.

Launch of Special Web Portal for People with Disabilities

A special web portal was also launched to provide comprehensive information on disability-related services. The portal offers details on central and state government welfare schemes, geo-tagged public facilities, specialized medical services, legal rights, and other resources for people with disabilities.
