Band activities with rhythmic music develop discipline and team spirit in students

Band activities with rhythmic music develop discipline and team spirit among the students. School students should remain involved in other creative activities alongwith studies for holistic development. Schools of Madhya Pradesh have brought glory to their state across the country by performing well in the national-level band competition. Band activities will be expanded to more and more schools.  This was stated by Commissioner of Public Instruction, Smt. Shilpa Gupta while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the state-level band competition at Campion School in Arera Colony, Bhopal. She announced the beginning of the band competition by releasing balloons.

Commissioner Public Instructions Smt. Gupta said that along with the qualitative improvement of education in government schools of the state, activities related to literature, music, sports and yoga are also being expanded. The spectators on the ground encouraged the participating students of 19 winning teams of Brass Band and Pipe Band from all the divisions of the state. On this occasion, Director of Public Instruction Shri D.S. Kushwaha was also present. The winning teams of the Brass Band and Pipe Band categories of the competition will participate in the National Competition. The national-level winning and runner-up teams will get an opportunity to participate in the Republic Day Parade of the year 2025 at New Delhi. It may be noted that for the last two years, the band team of Madhya Pradesh has been getting the opportunity to participate in the Republic Day Parade.

This year, a school band competition is being organized in the state at the divisional level and then at the state level. In the year 2023, the Western Zone Band Competition was organized at Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Pune. In the girls Brass Band competition, Carmel Convent School BHEL and Model School TT Nagar from Bhopal and in the boys pipe band competition, Olympus School Vidisha and St. Joseph’s Convent School Itarsi performed best in the boys brass band competition from Madhya Pradesh.
