85+ Senior Citizens and Disabled Voters Cast Home Votes from 3 of 18 Assembly Constituencies

Thane : To increase voter turnout and ensure no citizen misses voting in the Assembly General Elections on November 20, 2024, the Election Commission has provided a home voting option for voters over 85 and disabled citizens who cannot reach polling stations. A total of 933 individuals from 18 Assembly constituencies in Thane district have registered for home voting. Of these, 202 senior and disabled voters exercised their right from home on November 8 and 9, 2024.

Home voting began on November 8, 2024, and will continue until November 17, 2024, on dates specified by the District Election Officer for each constituency. The Election Commission of India has made Form 12 D available for citizens over 85 and those with a 40% (locomotor) disability, allowing them to vote from home. This benefit is available only to voters who submitted Form 12 D to Booth-Level Officers after the notification of the 2024 Assembly Elections.

In Thane district, home voting was conducted on November 8, 2024, in the 143 Dombivli and 147 Kopri-Pachpakhadi Assembly constituencies. A total of 77 senior voters over 85 and 6 disabled voters exercised their voting rights in these constituencies.

Home Voting Statistics from November 8, 2024:

  • 143 Dombivli Assembly Constituency: Senior citizens over 85 – 42, Disabled individuals – 1
  • 147 Kopri-Pachpakhadi Assembly Constituency: Senior citizens over 85 – 35, Disabled individuals – 5

On Saturday, November 9, 2024, home voting took place in the 143 Dombivli, 146 Owala-Majiwada, and 149 Kalwa-Mumbra Assembly constituencies. In these constituencies, 89 senior voters over 85 and 30 disabled voters exercised their voting rights.

  • 143 Dombivli Assembly Constituency: Senior citizens over 85 – 36, Disabled individuals – 1
  • 146 Owala-Majiwada Assembly Constituency: Senior citizens over 85 – 43, Disabled individuals – 18
  • 149 Kalwa-Mumbra Assembly Constituency: Senior citizens over 85 – 10, Disabled individuals – 11
