Yogi govt assigns one cleaner for every 10 toilets to ensure hygiene

Prayagraj : The Yogi government is fully committed to making Mahakumbh 2025 a benchmark for cleanliness, ensuring a memorable experience for all devotees. To achieve this, detailed guidelines have been issued by the fair administration, emphasizing the maintenance of clean toilets and urinals throughout the event.

The government plans to deploy one sweeper for every 10 toilets, supervised by one supervisor for every 10 sweepers. Similarly, one sweeper will manage every 20 urinals, with one supervisor overseeing 20 sweepers.

All vendors are required to adhere strictly to these standards and safety measures where sweepers must wear PPE, including gloves and shoes, ensuring both cleanliness and worker safety.

Special Executive Officer Akanksha Rana said, “These measures aim to upgrade sanitation facilities and enhance the overall experience for devotees and tourists.”

Under the prescribed guidelines, all toilet facilities will be maintained to the highest standards for cleanliness where toilets, washbasins, floors, and tiles remain stain- and dirt-free, and essential supplies such as toilet paper, soap dispensers, hand sanitizers, and feminine hygiene products are readily available.

The functionality of flush systems, taps, showers, and jet spray machines will be thoroughly maintained, ensuring they operate efficiently without any leaks. Advanced technology will ensure odors are eliminated within 10–15 minutes, and waste decomposed within 24 hours, maintaining freshness even during heavy use.

Additional measures to be in place include: appropriate lighting, timely repair of concrete joints, electrical fittings, and signages. Toilets will be equipped with mugs and buckets and will be situated at easily accessible locations. At least 10% of the toilets will be made accessible for persons with disabilities. Sufficient suction machines and waste disposal systems will be deployed.

These arrangements will be implemented with full readiness, even during major bathing festivals, ensuring a hassle-free experience for devotees amidst large crowds.
