Animal Husbandry Department Moving Towards Digitization – Dr. Samit Sharma
Plans to Integrate Identification, Vaccination, Breeding, Nutrition, Treatment, and Mobile Veterinary Unit Services on a Unified Platform
Jaipur : Secretary of Animal Husbandry, Dr. Samit Sharma, announced plans to integrate animal identification, vaccination, breeding, nutrition, treatment, and mobile veterinary unit services on a unified platform. A meeting was held today under Dr. Sharma’s chairmanship with representatives from the National Digital Livestock Mission of the Government of India and officials of the Animal Husbandry Department at the Secretariat. Representatives of BIFL (Mobile Veterinary Unit and Call Center Service Provider) also participated online.
During the meeting, Dr. Sharma directed that the “1962” app be widely downloaded by livestock owners to help them easily avail departmental schemes and access information about their animals. He instructed that WhatsApp groups formed under the Agriculture Department be used to promote the app. Through this app, livestock owners will be able to directly contact the call center for animal treatment. He emphasized that animals’ tag numbers should be treated as their Aadhaar numbers, and their registration should be done on the 1962 app using these numbers.
Dr. Sharma also instructed that preparations be systematically made to implement the Animal Health Module of the Bharat Pashudhan App at the earliest. Necessary training for veterinarians regarding this module was also recommended. He stressed the increased use of e-prescriptions for animal treatments and suggested utilizing the iGOT Karmayogi platform to share knowledge from the app’s Knowledge Center.
Additionally, BIFL was directed to incorporate telemedicine, WhatsApp, and chatbot functionalities at the 1962 Call Center. Dr. Sharma instructed the Director of Animal Husbandry to organize a meeting between department officials and Government of India representatives to provide more detailed information about the Bharat Pashudhan App. Consequently, this meeting was held at the Livestock Building following the initial discussion, where officials clarified their queries regarding the app.
It is noteworthy that the Government of India is implementing the National Digital Livestock Mission to address animal identification, vaccination, breeding, nutrition, and treatment.
The meeting was attended by Project Manager of the National Digital Livestock Mission, Mr. Asad Parvez; Senior Manager Mr. R.K. Srivastava; Project Manager (PMU-eY) Mr. R. Rejith; Advisor Dr. Jigar; Director of Animal Husbandry Dr. Bhawani Singh Rathore; and other senior officials of the Animal Husbandry Department.
