Crackdown on ‘goondaraj’ paved way for investment, employment growth in UP: CM Yogi
Gorakhpur : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized that the firm action taken against mafia, ‘gundaraj,’ and corruption in Uttar Pradesh has resulted in a significant increase in investments and consistent job creation for the youth. He noted that Uttar Pradesh now stands as the leading state in the country for attracting investments, offering a safe and business-friendly environment.
Speaking at the 35th Foundation Day celebrations of the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) on Saturday, the Chief Minister remarked, “Uttar Pradesh provides a secure environment for both investors and their capital, establishing itself as a premier destination for investment.”
In the ceremony, the CM inaugurated and laid the foundation for development works worth Rs 209 crore for infrastructure development in various sectors of GIDA. He also handed over allocation certificates to five investors for 85 plots allocated for a proposed investment of Rs 1,068 crore.

During the event, he also inaugurated a two-day trade show at GIDA.
CM Yogi stated that UP has received investment proposals worth Rs 40 lakh crore, thanks to the state’s excellent security environment, ease of doing business, strong road, rail, and air connectivity, and a robust land bank that meets industrial demands. The implementation of such large-scale investments will guarantee employment for 1.5 crore young people. He said that every district in Uttar Pradesh has fostered a positive atmosphere, leading to a continuous flow of investments due to consistent efforts.
The CM also highlighted PM Modi’s vision of making India’s economy a $5 trillion economy and said Uttar Pradesh has committed to contributing $1 trillion by 2028-29. To achieve this, development, employment and investment are essential. He stated that investments in sectors like education, healthcare, or industries are significant, regardless of their size. The state government welcomes all investors who take the initiative, as every investment represents a model of development.
The CM mentioned that industries in UP are no longer limited to Noida and Greater Noida; they are now expanding across every district. He highlighted that the government is developing a 36,000-acre industrial township in Jhansi-Bundelkhand, modeled after Noida, which will create employment opportunities for thousands of young people. He said that the days when young people from Uttar Pradesh had to go abroad for jobs are gone. Now, they are finding employment opportunities near their homes.
The CM also noted that GIDA has emerged as a key pillar for the development of Eastern Uttar Pradesh. He mentioned that earlier, there was a shortage of land for industries, but now, industrial corridors are being developed in 800 acres and 5,500 acres of land. With a vast land bank, world-class infrastructure, and excellent connectivity, the region is now an ideal environment for investment.
He mentioned several industries, including India Glycols Limited, Gallant Group, Ankur Industries, Varun Beverages, Keyan Distillery, Gyan Dairy, and Tattva Plastics, which have invested in areas where investment was previously non-existent. He also shared that a NIELIT center is running in GIDA to train local youth in skill development.
“While previous governments never offered incentives to entrepreneurs, the current government provides incentives without any interference, hindrance, or need for recommendations,” he added.
