E-Vidhan to Digitize Assembly Proceedings and Secretariat: Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Devanani
Jaipur : Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Mr. Vasudev Devanani reviewed the ongoing digital transformation of the state assembly on Wednesday. He directed officials to complete the work of digitizing the assembly hall and secretariat under the E-Vidhan initiative by December 31. Mr. Devanani personally inspected the progress at the site.
Mr. Devanani stated that the upcoming session of the Rajasthan Assembly will be paperless, with the assembly hall set to appear in a new digital form. The installation of computer systems at members’ seats and the digitization process under the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) project are in the final stages.
Paperless Assembly by December End
The Speaker announced that computer devices would be installed at the desks of legislators in the assembly, and the digitization process is expected to be completed in a phased manner by the end of this month. With E-Vidhan, the Rajasthan Assembly’s functioning will become fully digital.
iPads at Every Legislator’s Desk
Mr. Devanani revealed that each legislator’s seat will be equipped with an iPad, and a laptop with a printer will be provided for their residences. The project will incur an expenditure of ₹12.61 crore, with 60% funded by the central government and 40% by the state government.
Training and Technical Support for Legislators
The Speaker announced the establishment of a NeVA service center (E-Learning cum E-Facilitation Center) to train legislators, officials, and staff in using NeVA modules. Training materials will be available in English, Hindi, and regional languages. Legislators will also receive technical support in the assembly for online tasks.
Ongoing Review and Supervision
Mr. Devanani has been continuously reviewing this significant digital project. Even during a recent visit to four countries, he monitored the progress daily through phone calls and online inspections.
Paperless Secretariat and Assembly Operations
Under the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), the Rajasthan Assembly hall and secretariat are being digitized, making their operations paperless. This system will facilitate ease of work for members and officials while providing the public, media, and researchers with easy access to information on bills, reports, and other assembly documents. The “One Nation–One Application” initiative is being implemented at a rapid pace.
Mobile Access to E-Vidhan
The E-Vidhan app will be compatible with Android and iOS devices, available as an e-book and on the website. The app will provide comprehensive information, including house proceedings, bills, committee reports, questions and answers, bulletins, a digital library, notifications, and member details.
Visit by Punjab Assembly Members
On Wednesday, Speaker Devanani welcomed a delegation from the Punjab Assembly’s Government Assurances Committee, led by Chairman Sardar Devinderjeet Singh. The delegation praised Rajasthan Assembly’s political narrative museum and noted that committee meetings in Punjab are held weekly. The Punjab delegation will study Jaipur, Udaipur, and Ajmer until December 7. Rajasthan Assembly members also participated in this meeting, which emphasized the activation and monthly review of assembly committees.
